Chapel Choir Enjoys Season
"Fellowship attdSharine"
The Christmas season was a time of both
fellowship and sharing for the Chapel Choir of
Mount Vernon Baptist Church. The choir had its
Christmas "Get tegether" ort Sunday evening,
December 13, at the home of the W.S. Crewses on
Jerome Road. The festive occasion was enjoyed by
members of the choir and their guests. Mrs.
Carolyn Evans, president of the choir, prepared the
delicious food and tasty hot apple cider, which
everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

Davis, Carolyn Evans, Sarah Fikes, Maggie Gary,
Ernestine Kelly, Madge Page, Annie Bell Rogers,

Williams, and Ms. Janie Watkins.
While enjoying the Christmas festivities, the
choir did not forget the less fortunate- It adopted a
family through the Volunteer Services Agency, and
visited the Pine Knoll Rest Home on December 26,
and presented several musical selections for the
residents' enjoyment. .
Visit In Texas
Mrs. Charmin H. Watson, of Ridgeway Avenue,
and her daughter, Mrs. Lillie G. Brown of Will
ingboro, New Jersey, visited their granddaughter
and daughter in Killeen, Texas during the
Christmas holidays. Mrs. Brown's son-ih-law, Ber
nard Hill; is stationed at Fort Hood.
Bell-McNeill-Hunter Family
Holds Reunion
The annual Bell-McNeill-Hunter Family Reunion
was held on Christmas Day at the Bull City Elks
Lodge on Alston Avenue in Durham.

New York and San Francisco, California.
Following dinner, Dr. David H. Bell, pastor 6f
the Bell-Yeager Freewill Baptist Church, presented
a Holiday Certificate to his aunt, Mrs. Lessie
Hunter, oldest family member in attendance.
Harvey Gould presented a Holiday Certificate to
Mrs. Mable Hall, oldest sister of Dr. Bel). ...
Little Bridgette Hall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Edward Hall of Durham, was the youngest family
member in attendance.
YWCA Nacirema Club
Holds Christmas Party
The YWCA Nacirema Club held its Christmas
party at the home of Mr, and Mrs. Frank McCrea.
Guests for the occasion were Misses Lucille and
Mary Baines, William Saunders, Ms. Annie
Bynum, Ms. Ellen Daye, Phil Hotman, Napoleon
Blakeney, Ms, Quennie Harris, Ms. Mary Rice, Ms.
Shirley Elliott, Ms. Brenda Lyde, Ms. Lillian
Alston; Alfred and Ms. Brenda McCrea, son and
daughter of the hosts; Tom Bynum, Ms. Nannie
Burnette and Frederick Dorsey.
Members participating were: Mmes. Dorothy
Blakeney, Josephine Foushee, Gertrude Gibson and
Nellie McCrea.
The next meeting will be on January 18 at the
home of Mrs. Gibson, 701 Carroll Street.

This is the second year :
of a two year effort to"
train five per cent of the
region's citizens in this
life saving technique.
More than 11,000 per
sons in the six counties
of Chatham, Durham,
Johnston, Lee, Orange,
and Wake have already
received the training.

the Ladies Aide of West Durham Baptist Church
held their.annual Christmas meeting along with in
vited guests.
The sDecial committee appointed for this meeting
planned a delicious buffet style brunch. A short re8,on
program followed. Committee members were:
Mesdames Hazel, Rich, chairman, Julia Freel and,
Mary P. Jarmon," Harriette Miller, Margaret Fuller,
Barbara Faulk and Sadie Winston.

La Petite Gardeners Plan
For New Year
Mrs. Genevieve McCrea with Mrs. Josephine'
Robinson as co-hostess entertained members of La
Petite gardeners at a Christmas brunch in Mrs. Mc
Crea's home on Nelson St.
After a delicious meal, games were pjayed and
secret pals were revealed. Lots of fun was had and
everyone seemed pleased with what the Christmas
"Fairy" brought..
Mrs. Joseph Parker of Nelson St., a recent
member, was inducted into the club by Mrs. W.B. '
Saunders, a past president.
The Christmas party at the Sunshine Home com-,
pleted the club's projects for the year. For 1 982, .
members are looking forward to doing some of the
original ideas such as flower arranging and visiting
the gardens of club members and other interesting ;
gardens! The meeting closed on on beautiful note of "
sharing ideas with others.

On December 23, a rainy, foggy day, members of
Salome Temple No. 704 drove their cars to spread
joy and have prayer with elder members and the

Christmas
Stewardess Board No. 2 of Kyles Temple AME
Son Church held it's Christmas party at the home
of Mr. and-Mrs. R. E. Alston and daughter on
December 18. Games were played by members and
their guests. Prizes were awarded to the winners.
A covered dish dinner was served and each per

through its evening Con
tinuing Program. Classes
are scheduled to begin
January 13. The pro
gram is designed to pro
vide participants with
basic knowledge and
skills, for entry into the
real estate profession
either as a salesman or a
broker. The program
also provides a course of
study for real estate
licensees wishing to fur
ther their education. A,
secondary objective is to
prepare for the real
estate salesman andor
broker licensing ex
amination. The course

Carolina Real Estate
Licensing Board and
satisfy the educational
requirements of ap
