Rober son High in Skyland has 167.5 points, while Watauga, in second place;hasTl47.5r-T,er Roberson came in first in 3-A volleyball competi tion, finished second in boys cross, country, and tied for second in soccer. Watauga finished first in 3-A boys cross country competition, finished se cond in girls cross coun try and tied for fourth in volleyball. In a close J -A race, Robbinsville has 60 points, while Edneyville and the Eastern North Carolina School for the. Deaf in Wilson are tied -at second place with 57.5 points , each. John Wilkinson High in Belhaven is fourth with 55 points. Robbinsville won the 1-A state cham pionship in football. The School for the Deaf and Edneyville tied for first in volleyball, and John Wilkerson was runnerup in football. All four teams received 10 points for participating in two. of the six sanctioned sports. " All schools which finish in the top eight positions (plus any ties) in a state championship event receive Wachovia Cup points. In events such as track where 4-A, 3-A, 2-A and -1-A schools all compete together, Wachovia Cup points are awarded based on the school's standing . against, other schools in its own classification. If there are fewer than . eight schools from a : classification in the .event, only those schools ; 4 which are represented f are eligible to receive ; Wachovia Cup points.
