The Alvin Ailey Repertory. Knsemble will perform nl the
University Theatre at North Carolina Central University's
Farrison-Newton Communications Building at 8:15 p.m., Fri
day, March 5,
Established in 1974 as a performing company for young pro
fessionals, the Alvin Ailey Repertory Ensemble is under the
direction of Ms. Sylvia Waters, a former dancer with the Alvin
Ailey Dance Company. The group works to develop young
t dancers and choreographers, including in its repertoire both the
work of new choreographers and of experienced creators, in
cluding Alvin Alley himself.
The repertory ensemble tours widely, performing at colleges,
universities, and civic centers throughout the United States and
developing new dance audiences in community service programs
and children's programs.
