the half, but HHS took a

three periods. The fourth
quarter was torrid. With
1:47 to go, HHS was up
by five and we circled the
perimeter of the court
just waiting to cut down
the nets in victory. Ligon
then staged a furious ral
ly and the game went in
to overtime, tied at 59.

In the spring sports,
Hillside brought ; home ;
the state titles in track
and tennis and won the
district baseball . title. "
That was the spring that
we', first competed in
sports with then:

Durham High. (Hillside
trounced them in tracks
DHS won in baseball
3-2.) Hillside also cap-4
tured the first ever all
Durham City-County
Track Title.
When our graduation
ceremony rolled around
during June's hot, sticky
days, we walked out of
HHS proud that in
. sports we had more than
upheld Hillside's winn
ing tradition.
In retrospect, I salute ,
