garden has become very popular in the past few
years and gardeners are growing them in window
boxes and in pots on the patio.

niversary on Sunday, May 16. The celebration
began with worship with the pastor and members of
the Gateway to Heaven Church on Roosevelt St.
Following the church service,' the group met at
the home of Mr,, and Mrs. John Washington where
a brief program was presented by Mr. Washington,
honoring club members Miss Iola Allen and Rev.
" Mrs. Nettie Easterling. Highlighted were the,
remarkable services rendered by each of them to
their community, church and the Lillie McDade
Circle. Each honoree was presented a unique card

cup pecan pieces 2 tablespoons granulated : :
2 cups flour sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon.
Combine butter, brown sugar, water, and pecans in small
saucepan. Boil gently 10 minutes. Sift flour, baking powder,.
1 and salt in medium bowl. Add salad oil and evaporated:

Roll out dough Into a. 12 x 10-inch rectangle on lightly;
noured sunace, uombine granulated sugar and cinnamon:
Sprinkle over dough. Roll from longer side and cut into
' 12 slices. Pour Sugar-pecan mixture from saucepan into
9-inch round layer cake pan. Place dough slices on top:
j mixture, spacing them evenly. Bake in hot oven (400'P:):
