Educator's Sorority Observes Founders' Day : If Beta Zcta Chapter and sister chapters Alpha Iota of Concord, and leu Lambda of Winston-Salem celebrated Founders Day on May 23 with morning worship at St. Titus Episcopal Church. The Reverend Calvin R. Griffin is rector. An afternoon program was held at the Ramada Inn. Invocation was given by Mrs. Catherine S. Barnes, M.Div., St. Titus Episcopal Church. Soror Julia W. Harris; founder of the local chapter, read the Founders' Day Message from Supreme Basileus Rubye Couche and Regional Director Juanita High. Other sorors participating in the program were: Hazel Lipscomb, presiding; Maggie Henry, Beta Zeta t Basileus; Frances C. Waddell.. Alpha Iota Basileus; Daisy Staton, Beta Lambda Basileus; Wilhelmenia Bridges, : Rubestene Potter, JunitruIIa Tharrington,. Jessie Giles and Lula Warren. ' Special guests were; Lenzie G. OBSERVES FOUNDERS' DAY Ernest F. Mc Adams, Sr. Retires CINCINNATI. OHIO Over 250 friends and family gathered May 7, at the Harlcy Hotel here, to celebrate the retire ment of Ernest F. McAdams, Sr. He served at prjqdpal of Parham Elementary School, has served in the field of public education for thir ty years. . . A native of Durham, lie received his profes sional degrees from North Carolina College and Pennsylvania State University. He served , two years in the U.S. Navy. His teaching career began in Fuquay Spr ings, N.C. He and his immediate family moved 'to Cincinnati in 1957. In the Cincinnati Public School system, he taught at Cummins, Stowe and Hays Elementary schools and served as an ad ministrative intern at Peaslec, Windsor and Burton Elcmenatry, schools. 1 He was an assistant principal at Burton before his appointment as principal at Parham in ! I 1972. ... McAdams is a member ; of the Schoolmasters, CAAS, serving as treasurer; CAESP, also , treasurer and the Na tional Association of Elementary Principals.. He is a past member m . James Peace, Jr. Receives M.D. CHAPEL HILL " James H. Peace, Jr., ,a 1974 graduate of Chapel Hill Senior High School and a 1978 graduate of the University of North' Carolina at Chapel Hill was awarded the Doctor of Medicine dcercc from the UNC-Chapel Hill Join The NAACP School' of Medicine at graduation exercises held on May 16. Dr. Peace is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Peace, Sr., both professional educators with the Chapel Hill-Carrbom 'School System. Dr. Peace plans to spend one year of intern ship at the UCLA Hospital in Los Angeles, California. He has been accepted University of Illinois to specialize in op-thalmology.
