Devotion opened the meeting led by Mrs. Mable Cook and ended with a poem by Mrs. Price and Mrs. Toon' and a testimony by Mrs. Viola Philpot. Mrs. Hastie Price presided over the business ses sion including approval of minutes and reports.. ,, Following the meeting, a dinner was served. ' Present were Mmes. Hastie Price, Mary Moore, Marie Betts) Isabelle Dunn, Mable Cook, Faye Bass, Susie pillahunt, Ethel Smith, Ora Bynum, Ruby Herbin Ester Toon, Cinderella Leonard, Viola Philpot, Mozella Stewart, Lucy Taylor and Freida Bass. . - The next, meeting will be with Mrs. Marie Betts, 700 S. Mangum St. t Speaks Achievement Club The R.L. Speaks Achievement Club met at the home of Mrs. Angenett Pierce on Archdale Street, Sunday, June 13. Members present were Mrs. Thomasina Shaw, president; Mrs. Louise Allen, Ms. Janice James, Ms. Jennipher Pierce, Ms. Rosena Sherill, Mrs. Virginia Hall, Ms. Brenda McCormick, Mrs. Angenett Pierce and Ms. Hazel Howard. Following the business meeting, refreshments were served. A special prayer was offered for two of the club's members who are going into the hospital, Mrs. Allen and Mrs. Hall. White Rose Circle The White Rose Circle Club met June 13 at the home of Mrs. Harrison Torain on South Alston Avenue. A short devotion by Mrs. Bessie Burnette and Mrs. Torain, opened the meeting. All reports were made and approved by the body. Plans were made for the concert which is scheduled for August 1 at 5 p.m., at St. Mark AME Zion Church. The club was closed for a vacation. A picnic is scheduled for September 1 1 and an niversary September 12. The hostess served a repast. Present ; were Mmes. Bessie Burnette, Lillie Brown, Aletha McDougald, Elmira Flintall, The hostess and her niece, Mrs. Thorpe, were thanked by the president'. next meeting will be on October 10. 4 Price Street Club The Price Street Neighborhood Club met Frid' night, June 11, at the home of Mrs. Roberta L ! mundson on Dunbar Street. Devotion was led by Mrs. Li Holloway, Miss Annie Dunnigan and Mrs. Georgia Fellers. Reports were made and approved.. Plans were made for the anniversary and picnic which will be held July 24. A poem was read by Mrs. T. Kornegay pntitled Ebenezer Floral Club Mrs. Patricia W. McKiver, formerly of Durham, received her master of social work degree from the University of Texas at Arlington, on May 22. .' Mrs. McKiver is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Williams of 1606 Nixon St.. in Durham C I , She is married to Rev. It was announced that the Garden Council will meet every Saturday before the 5th Sunday: Mrs. Mary Taylor was chosen the delegate to represent, the Azalea Garden Club at the State Con vention to be held in Raleigh, August 1-3. The club will observe it's fourth anniversary bvy worshipping as a group on June 20 at 1 1 o'clock service at Scott's Grove Holy Church on Highway 55. Rev. Mrs. Beatrice Howell is the pastor and also a member of the club. Next planned meeting on June 24 will be at Mrs. Hattie Bass' home on Nixon Street.
