Members of the Price Street Neighborhood Club

Thanksgiving sunshine box for Mrs. Myrtle Rice, a
club member, who is in Hillhaven Orange. Plans
were made for the annual Christmas Party.
Dinner was served.

Evans, Cora Brown, Fidelia jfrooks, Hastie Price,
Queen E. Toon and E.B. Flintall.
The next meeting will be Nov. 12 at the home of
Mrsk Tina Korneeav.

Thrifty Service Club
The Thrifty Service Club met m the home of Mrs.
Dorothy Glover on Lillie Drive in observance of
Mrs. Irene Hall's birthdates.
Mrs. Beatrice Holman, first vice president, presided
over the business session. Devotion was led by Mrs1.
Genevieve Rogers.
Plans for visits to three rest homes in November
and the club's Christmas party were finalized.
Mrs. Glover and Mrs. Hall received lovely gifts
and cards with their birthday money.

Mae Retha Core, Virginia Thomas, Lula Mae
Hester, Pauline Boxley, Elizabeth Edwards,

The next meeting will be with Mrs. Minnit
Cromartie on Rosewood Street, October 23 at 5
; p.m., with Mrs. Virginia Thomas as co-hostess."
Yahama Social Club
The regular monthly meeting of Yahama Social
dub was held at the home of Mrs. Clementine Self
in Carrboro on Sunday, October 3.
Plans were made to participate in NCCU's
homecoming parade on November 6. Birthday
honoree for September was Mrs. Pearl Haskins.
A meal was served following the meeting.

Celebrate 25 Years Wed
Mr. and Mrs. J. Quinton Parker celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a reception held recently
at the Alfonso Elder Student Union at North Carolina Central University. The Parkers, who were married
at Saint Mark AME Zion Church, are the parents of two children, Michael of Charlotte and LaQuinta, a
senior at UNC-Chapel Hill.

Ebonettes To Sponsor
The Ebonettes Service Club, Inc.', is sponsoring a
Flea Market on Saturday, October 16, 10 a.m.-4
p.m. at.Lakewood Shopping Center, next to Kerr
Drug Store.
Items to include adult and children's clothes,
toys, kitchen and other miscellaneous items.
Proceeds will be used for scholarships.
Halloween Costume Ball Planned
The National Association of Blacks in Criminal
Justice - Durham-Raleigh Chapter will sponsor a
Halloween Costume Ball on October 29, 9 p.m-2
a.m. at Royal Oaks- Apartments Club House,
located next to Uzzle Motor Co. on Mayfair Street.
There will be free refreshments and open bar with
brown bagging permitted. Cash prizes, including
best costume, will be awarded. A donation of $6 per
person is asked. Tickets can be purchased from any
member or by calling 688-0202 in Durham.
This event is being held for the purpose of giving
to needy families during the Thanksgiving and
Christmas holidays. Persons who can help to feed
these families are.Urged to attend the event or make
a donation. This is a non-profit organization.
R.L Speaks Achievement Club
The R.L. Speaks Achievement Club of St. Mark
AME Zion Church met at the home of Ms. Rosena
Sherrill on Fargo St., Sunday, October 10.
Members present were: Mmes. Virginia Hall,
Angenett Pierce, Almira Sumpter, Louise Allen,
"Gwendolyn Suitt; Mses. Janice James and Breoda
McCormick.
Following the business meeting refreshments
were served.

Mrs. Mudy Stone, an associate profes'sor in the
Academic Skills Center at North Carplina Central
University, is the newly elected president of the
Durham Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta,
Inc. She succeeds Mrs. Betty Blackmon who served
as president for the past four years. Under Mrs.
Blackmoh's leadership, the chapter awarded more
than $20,000 in scholarships to. deserving high
school students.
Dr. Annette Phinazee installed Mrs. Stone at a
recent chapter meeting along with the following
elected officers: Mrs. Mary Hester Smith, vice'
president; Mrs. Barbara R. Parker, corresponding
secretary; Mrs. Nannie Green, recording secretary;
Mrs. Leola Jenkins, financial secretary; Mrs. Delois
Kelley, treasurer; Mrs. Louise W. Weeks, jour
nalist; Mrs. Helen Hudson chaplain; Miss Ann
McMillon, parliamentarian; Mrs. Virgie Davis,
sergeant-at-arms; Mrs. Alma Bennett, custodian;
and Mrs. Margaret Hedgepeth, chairman,
nominating committee.
Ms. Nancy Pinckney serves as undergraduate ad
visor for Alpha Lambda Chapter, Delta Sigma
Th(Sta, Inc., on the campus of North Carolina Cen
tral' University, and Ms. Ann McMillon is
undergraduate advisor for Lambda Omega
Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta, Inc., on Duke Univer
sity campus. . .
Delta Sigma Theta, Inc., a public service sorori
ty, was founded on the campus of Howard Univer
sity on January 13, 1913 by 22 young women. The
sorority is now composed of over 100,000 college
educated women in chapters throughout the United
States and abroad.
According to Mrs. Stone, Durham Alumnae
Chapter will continue its tradition of providing
scholarships to deserving high school students
through funds raised by its annual Jabberwock.
