Thrifty Service Club The Thrifty Service Club met m the home of Mrs. Dorothy Glover on Lillie Drive in observance of Mrs. Irene Hall's birthdates. Mrs. Beatrice Holman, first vice president, presided over the business session. Devotion was led by Mrs1. Genevieve Rogers. Plans for visits to three rest homes in November and the club's Christmas party were finalized. Yahama Social Club The regular monthly meeting of Yahama Social dub was held at the home of Mrs. Clementine Self in Carrboro on Sunday, October 3. Plans were made to participate in NCCU's homecoming parade on November 6. Birthday honoree for September was Mrs. Pearl Haskins. A meal was served following the meeting. Halloween Costume Ball Planned The National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice - Durham-Raleigh Chapter will sponsor a Halloween Costume Ball on October 29, 9 p.m-2 a.m. at Royal Oaks- Apartments Club House, located next to Uzzle Motor Co. on Mayfair Street. There will be free refreshments and open bar with brown bagging permitted. Cash prizes, including best costume, will be awarded. A donation of $6 per person is asked. Tickets can be purchased from any member or by calling 688-0202 in Durham. This event is being held for the purpose of giving to needy families during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
