Addressing the sub- isct "What is an.American really?" Sadiki’s talk entitled "The American Folksoul: E Pluribus Unum?" will be held at the Hayti Heritage Center, 804 Old Fayetteville Street, at 7:30 p.m. There is no charge for admission. As Sadiki writes: "The mixtures of races, cultures, ethnicities and spiritual points of view in this country initially seemed best described as a "melting pot," but now, as America lurches toward the 21st Century it has been sug gested that the idea of the "salad bowl" (crisp, distinguishable pieces, multi colored, flavored, etc.) may be more ap propriate. One thing is clear, all of us here, with the notable exception of in digenous Native Americans all hail from elsewhere-yet we all call ourselves Americans. But what is an American really? Can an image be fostered in which every American finds her or his . reflection? What steps must we all courageously take towards this goal?" Sadiki’s presentation will ."ddress these questions. Titled '‘All Men are Brothers: Tribute to Curtis Mayfield, ’ ’ the disk is due in Febru ary from Warner Bros. Warner Bros, confirms all artists’ and producers’ royalties are earmarked to go directly to him. Mayfield, in turn, plans to donate part of the monies to The Mi- apii Project, which does pioneering work in the field of spinal injuries. Also to be featured on the record: Mayfield’s former group, The Im- 'pressions, joined by Branford Marsalis for the soul singer's golden oldie "Fool For You’’ on the disk.
