Phony cancer charities shut down for ripping off donors, AG Cooper and Secretary Marshall announce Raleigh: Two sham cancer charities that misled donors out of $75 million nationwide will be dissolved and their leader banned from nonprofit work, North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper and Secretary of State Elaine Marshall announced Wednesday. Cooper, Marshall, officials from 49 other states and the Federal Trade Commission today announced a permanent injunction that will shut down Cancer Fund of America Inc. (CFA) and Cancer Support Services Inc. (CSS), donate their assets to legitimate charities, and ban their leader, James Reynolds, Sr., from profiting from fundrais ing and nonprofit work and from serving as a charity’s director or trustee. The injunction is part of a settlement to resolve allegations that CFA and CSS claimed to help cancer patients and used misleading fundraising solicitations and phone calls, but spent the vast majority of the money they raised on themselves, their families and friends, and professional fundraisers. “Many charities do amazing work in our communities but when charitable donations are misused, people in need suffer and consum ers lose confidence in giving,” Cooper said. “We took action to pro tect consumers from these fraudulent charities and restore their trust in legitimate ones.” “Today you are seeing a successful united front by the federal government and every single state charity regulator in this great na tion,” Secretary Marshall said Wednesday. “This settlement forces these sham charities into dissolving, liquidates the known assets in the case, and bans this shameful bunch from ever running another nonprofit. That’s great news.” “Do your homework before you give so that your contribu tions can do the most good,” Marshall said. Only the faithful believer will hold the impact of such a day in high praise and esteem because it reminds the faithful all are now victors and are no longer victims of the unseen, spiritual forces of darkness. Were your Good Friday and Easter Sunday celebrations one of a fashion expression, a day of rest, a family gathering, or was it one filled with praise and thanks for Jesus dying on the cross to taking all of our sins away and giving each of us a pathway back to the Father? Our Lord dying on the cross was not the high point of the celebration. It was Jesus’ resurrection, leaving an empty tomb which was the highlight of the spiritual battle that took place at Calvary’s hill. Jesus dying on the cross just showed His ultimate willingness to obey the Father’s command to die for all sinners. It is the Resurrection which puts Easter in spiritual perspective. Easter was for the battle and control over our sinful souls - winner takes all. Jesus wanted us and the devil wanted us as well. Who is it that you wish to take control over you from here on in? There will be many who will be behind the spiritual blackball of unbelief already when it comes to believing the Bible. St. Paul tell us, “Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you - unless you believe in vain (1 Corinthians 15:1-2). For many today to believe what the bible says about the risen Christ will be in vain. Not because it was never preached to you, but simply because many do not believe the Bible (1 Corinthians 15:33-34). Many unbelievers of today believed like many ofthe Corinthians ofPaul’s day, who were socially sophisticated and critical thinkers - this Jesus thing is all legendary and untrue, arguing no man ever returned from the dead. Paul replied, “But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ did not rise from the grave. And if Christ did not rise from the grave, then our preaching is vain and empty and your faith is also empty. This also makes us false witnesses of God in that we are lying to you about something God could not do, or did not do, and about something that did not happen. If Christ was not resurrected from the grave we all are still in our sins and there will be no resurrection of the saints. Then those who have fallen asleep have perished and have lived their faith for nothing (ICorinthians 15:17). Ifwe have no hope beyond this life, then we are most pitiful (1 Corinthians 15:17-19). But now Christ is risen from the dead and has become the first fruit of those who have fallen asleep (1 Corinthians 15:21-22). Easter marks the beginning of the End of the devil’s rule over the earth. Easter is when Christ begins to deliver the Kingdom to God, the Father, when He puts an end to all rule, power and authority that the devil has over the cosmic universe and then put all enemies under His feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death(l Corinthians 15:26). All of these victories are to be celebrated at Easter until the Lord returns. This is some of what Easter is all • about - God raising Jesus, the Son, from the dead. 0 death, where is your sting? 0 grave, where is your victory? But thanks be to God, Who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:55-56). Join our live streaming and Video On Demand.
