October 9, 10, 11, II. and 13, 1917. are the dates for Gaston County's third annual fair, which will be held in this city, the election having been made at an important meeting of the board of di rectors Friday evening. It will be of interest to those en gaged in the poultry business to know that the directors decided to erect at the next fair, a commodious poultry building. In addition to this and the already splendid equipment, a num ber of other changes and additions were authorized. Owing to the complete revision of the premiums to be offered this Fall, it was decided to have printed and distributed, at once. 5.0 (mi copies of the premium list this being in addi tion to the regular issue during July. Also, owing to the large display of live stock last year, this department was divided into three .ceparate de partments, cattle, horse and pigs. One of the "im portant business matters to come' be fore the Gastonia meeting will be the discussion of the need of a State Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Fred N. Tate, of High Point, N. C, will make the recommendation and lead the dis cussion. A number of business men of the Stat? and many organizations and firms are desirous ot seeing a State Chamber of Commerce formed, to advertise the State as a whole and look after matters of State-wide in terest, and with a special view of maintaining a State Freight Bureau for the benefit of the small cities and individual shippers who may become members of the body. The business men and shippers of the State are urged to attend this' meeting and to assist In the organiza tion of a State body if it is decided to do so. If all those who cannot attend will express their opinion by writing the Gastonia Chamber of Commerce, it will be a great assistance to the meeting.
