PASSED I STATE
LEGISLATURE
Call Election to Decide on One
hundred Thousand, Water,
Sewerage and Streets.
MOST PRESSING IS THE
WATER AND SEWERAGE
Is Expected That Commission
ers Will Meet at Early Date
and Make Preparations.
The two bills published in the Her
ald two weeks ago, giving the Town
Council authority to call special elec
tion in order to allow the voters of
the town to decide on bond issues for
Water, and Streets, respectively, have,
successfully passed both branches of
the State Legislature and have been
duly ratified, ) This information was
conveyed to this office Wednesday by
> telegram from Hertford county's re
presentative at Raleigh. The bills as
passed by the General Assembly ax^
the originals as published in this pa
per.
They provide that the town council
may, after duly giving notice, hold an
election for the purpose of deciding
oira fifty thousand dollar bond issue,
first, for water ?nd sewerage; and
another bill granting them the right
to call an election to decide on the
issuanceof a fifty thousand dollar is
sue for improvement of the city
streets. He two bills are so drawn
that the total of one hundred thou
sand dollars in both bills can be used
for either of the propositions, provid
ing funds are available from the ot
her. ?
It is recognized that the most press
ing matter just at this time is
bond issue for water and sewerage;
and in all probability, this measure
wiJI be the first to be voted upoB bjfj
the citizens of the town. There itf
strong sentiment here for early aetioi

[M/nous, and it was her pleasure to
JHfP all of God's creatures. Dead to

hjhe settled the all important ques
tion and accepted her Savior; and
now her spirit is wafted up to the
Great Beyond, waiting for us who are
left to mourn.
She was tender in tier home; a
devoted daughter and affectionate
sister. We needed her, oh, so much,
but Jesus said: "Your work is finish

ber in youth as she??
"Art is long and time is fleeting, .
And, our hearts, tho stout and brave.
Still, like muffled drums are beating
Funeral marches to the grave."
Whereas, 'God has seen fit to take
her from us, be it resolved:
?t. We highly appreciate the loy
al and faithful service. Her vacant
chair wil be hard to fill and her mem
ory we will ever cherish;
2, That while we bow in humble
submission to the will of our Heaven- ;

for our friend, who meant so much ;
and who did so much for us;
