That the service rendered by this bank meets the needs of our depositors is shown by the large number Who make this institution their banking home. ? i ' . - *j IN MEMOR1AM Mrs. Cora Savage departed this life on June, 7th 1920 at Lakt View Hospital Suffolk Va. after an illness of two weeks, aged 61 years and 0 months. She waa mafried 31 yean ago to Mr. L. S. Savage of Ahoskie N. C., where they have made their home for fifteen yean, Mn. Savage joined the M. E. Church South, when quite young and since then has been a faithful worker in all church work feeling it h$r christian duty to do what she could. She was one of the most faithful members of the womans missionary Society and waa never called on to read or offer a prayer that she did not cheerfully respond. She was a true frind and most excellent neigh bor, a fine christian character. { Those in sickness or trouble in j her community found in her a faith ful friend and helper, She was never too busy with her own affain to ! leave them and go to a neighbor in need all who knew her will praise God for the noble christain life that she lived. We find It difficult to ' think of bein^ deprived of her wel- ! cofce presence sweet face and un selfish service in the- home, church and community, yet rejoice that we have as her legacy to us, the rec ord of a pure noble life and christian influence, may her beautiful life j ever live in ttU hearts of those who loved her and her Godly example | be an inspiration to each And every on*. When she was taken so very ill, it was there the devoted huaband gave up all, and sat' by her bed side { where he ministered to every need with a gentleness never surpassed. Suffering as she did with no hope of relief, made helpless by the disease that had smitten hat, she longed to go to (hat fair I and where there Is Bo nor* pain, yet she would have linger ed in weariness extreme, that her gracious presence might bless and comfort the devoted husband of bar youth, whose lovs had Men abso lute consecrated to her and laid as a living sacrifice upon the Alter df her eaffering, that if by any means and at any coat ha might haw the joy of seeing her lifted out of bar suf fering into gUdnesa and strength of restored health, hot alas! K could not be and when the end came, for and raatfal, free from allpain, as death had est Us silent seal ?q?n her toe great beyond, with Mar eyee to those of her husband and her hand clasped in his, they, clasped hands at the bridal altar, again in death and may they clasp them again in the great judgement day, Believing that ha would meat her again in the beautiful city of God, She slipped away into the silent of the night to find the gates of dawn and there she waits, whilst he desolate and alone sits amid the hush of the Evening twilight, listining for a voice that is still, and sometime, some how in God's own way may they clasp hands and love will claim ifs own. On Wed. June 9th at the home of her sister Mrs. R. C. Harrell of Suf folk her funeral services were con ducted by her Pastor Rev. I. J. Barker assisted by Rev. Ball of Ahoskie and Revs. Johnson and Staley of Suffolk, also Rev. Edwards of Whaleyvilla jn^ beautiful and im pressive manner among a large crowd of sorrowing relatives and friends after which her body was laid to rest in Suffolk Cemetery to await the resurrection morn. About fifty friends from Ahoskie attended the burial. The floral tributes were many and beautiful which proved the love and esteen in which this good woman was held. To the grief stricken husband, agtd father and mother, sister and other loved ones, we extend our deepest sympathy and pray God's blessed promises will sustain them in this hour of their bereavement.
