~ MURFREESBORO NEWS It showed beautifully here on Tuesday morning. The scene furnished a poem. The trees were dr essed-up so stiff in white that their grace of movement was lost. An old fashioned sn ow! But lo, about noon the sun slowly appeared and the scene too quickly changed. Mr. W. C. Ferguson spent a few days last week in Suffolk. Va. He was accompanied by his little 4aughter, Frances and she made a special visit to her grandmother, Mrs. C. F. Fer guson, who is spending the win tdr in that city. Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Brett, and two little children of Me nola spent f * ~HU ' Mrs. Bretfs parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Futrell. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Waters of Ahoskie spent Thursday ev ening and Friday here with the former's parents. Mr. Phillip White arrived in town from Norfolk last Friday to join his wife in the home of Mr. Thomas Hunter. Mrs. David Gatling and her; daughter, Bessie, have moved to Norfolk, where they will re side in the future. Mr. and Mrs. Lorney Jenkins who lived about two miles out side of town, have moved into Murfreesboro and are occupy ing their new home next to the Sewell House. 0 A Stewardship Institute ?t Mur freesboro Beginning Sunday evening, January 12, at the Baptist chu rch, the Stewardship Institute of the West Chowan Associati on will be held, for a two day session, ending oq Tuesday at noon. with the great personalities, Drs. Charles E. Maddrey, Cor responding Secretary of the St ate Baptist Convention, Walter N. Johnson and A. C. Hamby, who will conduct the Institute, there is promise of both pleas ure and spiritual benefit. The inspiration that may be derived from this institute and the pres ence of its able leaders may re sult in rare benefit to many. The Institute ia open to all the pastors, Sunday School Su perintendents and leaders of the church organizations being especially invited to attend and they will be entertained by the Murfreesboro and Meherrin ch uurches. 0 The Senior B. Y. P. U. of the Jlalwirin Baptist Church Hurfreesboro, Jan. 80,?We organized our union on July 1, >921, with a membership of 80, hut soon we grew to forty mem bers. We went to work with a heart full of love for the work. During the first three months after we were organized we were placed on the Standard. We kept our record for the fol lowing three months, again go ing on the Standard with hon ors. We had eighteen to go on honor roll both in attendance, and in Bible readings, during the second quarter. At the close of the y%ar 1921 we had with us the Junior Sta te Secretary, Miss Elma Fara bow, who organized our jun iors into a union, who are now doing great work. We are pro ? ud of them. We, the Senior Union, reor ganized on January 1st., 1922, ?wwith the following officers: President, Theo Liverman; Vice-President, Alta Chitty: Secretary, Julia Vinson; Cor responding Secretary, Letha Carter; Treasurer, Lila Warren Librarian, Laura Ruth Parker; Pianist, Sudie Warren ; Choris ter, Vernon Warren; Q&iz lea der, Nannie Vinson; Group Captains: Gary Vinson, Tftra mie Vinson, Thomas Griffin, William Brown. We have the most wonderful pastor to be found. He is wide awake and loves his young peo ple, is ever working among and looking out for the interest of ? we B. Y. P. Mr. Robert Sessoms went to Powellsville last Saturday. Mr. Carl Sessoms, who has been studying law at-Wake For est College, and having passed the State Board, returned to his home here last Saturday. Rev. Lineberry filled his reg ular appointment here on last Sunday, but, owing to the very inclement weather, the congre gation was not large.
