A visitor to Wlnton is at ones im pressed with the feet that it has one of the best equipped garages and service stations to be found in "^Eas tern North Carolina and one that will compare most favorably with any in the larper cities of the state. I This is the establishment owned and operated by Mr. K. L. Banks, one of Wintoa's live-wire citizens, and a man who has done much to boost -4 and build up this section. Mr. Banks is local agent for the Ford Motor Company products, in cluding Ford cars, ? trucks and the Fordson tractor. He handles a large stock of genuine Ford parts, as well as the Fish cord fabric tires, the United States and Firestone brands. The stock, of tires and accessories is the largest in this section of the of the country. , The repair sad service depart ments are exceedingly well equipped and five experienced men are em ployed in the plant Service and efficiency at reasonable prices are the principles on which the business is operated by Mr. Banks, and satisfac tion is guaranteed. CI The increasing number of automo , biles throughout the country call for specialists in automobile repairing and the garage at Cofleld of Hill and Sumner is an important asset to the motorists of this entire section as well i as to transient travelers. J Although the Arm has been in busi ness only over a year, it lias built up a splendid reputation for efficient service, promptness and thorough work, which together with the reaaonbale prices charged, has been thd means of bringing it a large vol ume of trade. The garage handles all kinds of repairing on any make of automo bile or truck. It carries a complete ? stock of accessories and spare parts for standard machines, as well as a stock of Mansfield, Diamond, and United States tires. With 5,000 square feet of floor space, the garage is modernly equip ped and it has the latest and most up-to-date machinery. ' Mr. W. I. Hill is in charge of the garage, and also operates the mail service between Cofleld and Harrells ville. A man is known for his principle* and by his works so as to speak, and in this respect Mr. W. J. Dunn, lending general merchant at Union, stands out in the forefront of those citizens who appreciate that there is something more in life than mere secular affairs. Mr. Dunn has been in business at Union for thirty-fire years and en Joys the confidence of his fellow-citi sens for nr.iics around, 'lie is noted for his intergity and square deal ings, for the superior quality of his stock and for his sincere desire to sell honest merchandise at honest prices, throughout his career he has never been accused of profiteering. Included in his stock is a well se lected line of dry. goods, notions, clothing, boots, shoes, novelties, staple and fancy groceries, flour, feedstuffs, meal, etc. He also hand les hardware and farmers' supplies and people come for miles to trade at Dunn's so widely known is the proprietor of this establishment and so splendid is his reputation for sell ing first class goods. WIGGINS, ^ FINE MILLINERY An appreciative patronage is the best inspiration for a business* which depends solely on the support of women, and Miss N. T. Wiggins, pro prietor of an exelusive millinery shop in Murfreeaboro, has demonstrated her ability to give the womdn of Hertford county the choice of the latest designs in millinery without the necessity to travelling to the larg er cities. A gifted milliner herself Bliss Wig gins eight years ago purchased the millinery department of Wynn Bros, stare, and since that time has built up a patronage among women who appreciate art that is not only cred itable to herself but shows discern ment on the part of her cusomers. Having the only exclusive millinery store in...the town or in this section of Hertford county Miss Wiggins does a large business. The store is -tastefully decorated in ferns and pot ted plants, and a splendid display of designs is one of the attaractive fea tures. A line of notions and novelties is also carried and with large plate glass show cases the store presents a modern up-to-date appearance. o J. H. PARKER, CASH GROCER i i \ ? Parker, proprietor of The- Cash Grocery Store, who in the year he has been in business has built up an extensive trade on a cash basis. Mr. Parker, who is a native of Hertford County, was formerly en gaged in farming, and since entering the mercantile business ha. demon- I strated that he is a live-wire with progressive modern, ideas which are reflected in the success he is making of the undertaking. Mr. Parker carries a large and avried stock of staple and fancy gro ceries, and also -operates an up-to date meat market, where "the choicest fresh meats are handled. He also tarries a line of flour and feedstuffs and supplies the greater n umber of homes in Murfreesboro and this section with thejr food. Evans, the practical tin roofer and sheet metal worker of Murfrees boro, a man who has done such splendid work in this line that he has made a reputation which ex tends for miles and miles beyond the county limits. Mr. Evans is a man whose years of experience as a tinner and sheet metal worker enables him to not only to do flrst class work but to do it at a reasonable cost because he can figure closely and still do splendid work. Few towns in North Carolina can boast of a tin and sheet metal shop as completely equipped and as well prepared for the character of work which Mr. Evans does.
