The Bank of HarrelhviUe has,
since its organisation in 1912, been
one of the biggest factors in the
i promotion of all thoae things which
go to make a wide-awake progress
ive section. a
The stockholders, officers and
directors of the bank are men who
take a heal$y interest in the
cultural and commercial progress
of Hertford County and they are
also men who have* made successes
of their individual enterprises.
Consequently their management of
the affairs of the bank has been I
snch as to make it more and more

I Fully equipped for handling its

offers every facility to its customers
consistent with the principles qf
sound banking.
When organized eight years ago,
the bank had a capital of $7,500.
This has been increased to $10,450
and it has accumulated a surplus
equal to its capital, showing its
strength <and growth.
The bank fixtures are of mahog
any, and the general appearance of
the institution together with its at
mosphere of service and helpfulness
has made it one of Hertford
County's greatest assets.
The directors of the bank are Dr.
J. A. Powell, Messrs. W. A. Perry,
J. O. Askew, Jr., H. H. Taylor, B.
Scull, J. Ed. Askew, R. B. Williford,

Every community has its men who
?re- constantly striving to' aid in
building up their section. Some
accomplish more than others but it
is the spirit of the thing which
counts most of all because of the
example it sets for other citizens.
Such a man is Mr. H. H. Taylor,
one of the leading business men in
Northeastern North Carolina, a lead
ing citizen of Harrellsville, and a
man who stands for all things which
are progressive and go to aid in the
development and upbuilding of the
community.
In addition to conducting a lead
ing and well-stocked general mer
chandise store at Harrellsville, Mr.
Taylor is an extensive manufact
urer of pine and gum lumber, is
owner of a cotton gin, and also
operates a' grist mill.
The business was first established
nineteen years ago under the firm
name of Copeland & Taylor, being
taken over by Mr. Taylor six years
ago.
The general merchandise store
is completely stocked and carries
a large line of staple and fancy
groceries, flour, feedstuffs, etc., dry
goods, notions, men's ' clothing,
shoes and boots, caps, hats, gents
furnishings, hardware, harness > fur
niture. etc.
The store is noted for1 its fair
prices, and the fact that it sells
honest merchandise at honest prices
means much to its business as woli
as increases the prestige of Har
rellsville as a trading center.
In his other enterprises Mr. Tay
lor exercises the same ideas and
principles. a His plants an modern
and he operates the cotton gin and
grist mill with gasoline engines.
His saw mill is operated by steam.
For many years Mr. Taylor used
an International tractor mounted on
a log ear to take the place of a
steam locomotive. He recently pur
chased a Fordson tractor to take Its
place. Included in his equipment
are 'three stationery engines and
two farm tractor engines, as well as
