CARD FROM MR. H1NES EDITOR HERALD: Dear Sir: Will you allow mi apace in your paper to correct "a report! It ha* been reported to me by several reliable men that there is a report in Ahoalde, and same ie being Circulated all oVer the county, that my pay roll for the month of Feb ruary for labor, was nine thousand dollars. This is an absolute false hood. It was not this auibunt in Feb uary nor in any other month. This same party also stated that I had cleared an acre of land on my farm with the convict force. This is also false. No convict has ever "struck a lick" of work on my land except to cut wood for the convict camp. I have never stayed on this farm twenty minutes at a time since I bought it until last Sunday except from between nine o'clock at night until live o'clock in the morning. I also understand that I left trucks out last winter and -allowed the water to' freeze in the radiators and burst them. ' ? ? __ Now all this ia false and the worth less cur who started it is unworthy to breath the breath of a common hound and is not half as much as a gentleman. I understand all this is a part of a frame-up to elect a hew Commission. I think if he is a cam paign manager for any candidate, that candidate is already defeated. If this report is started to defeat the com missioners, why don't they hit them instead of me. If I was half as mean and dirty as the one who started this report, I would not want a job as road superintendent in the county. I would be out robbing the banks and be a professional thief and liar as he is. Respectfully, F. G. HINES, Road Supt. 0 From the summit of a mountain in Glacier National Park, one can toss a pebble into waters which ^ow into Hudson Bay to the north, the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Gulf of Mexico to the south.
