The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Griffln died last Saturday and was bureied Sunday afternoon in the city cemetery. Miss Learline Brown, a member of the iopl school faculty the past ses sion, returned to her home tn Wind ell, N. C., last Wednesday. Miss Lossie P. Davis, a member of the High School faculty here for the past session, returned to her home in Lneafna, N. C., last Friday. Mr. and Mrs. J. Stanley Leary and little son Stanley, Jr., motored to Nor folk Sunday and spent Sunday and Monday as the guest of relatives. Mr. M. R. Herring, of Winton, was ht town Wednesday on business. Mr. H. C. Miss Estelle White, of Colerain, spent a short while in town Wednes day afternoon. Messrs. J. J. Venn end R. A Hollo man, of near Ahoskie, spent Wednes day in Norfolk. Miss Janle Parker, of Menola, end Miss Bettie Williams Taylor, of Union were visitors in town Wednesday afternoon. Mr. J. D. Foster, of Tarboro, spent several days in town last week in the interest of the Co-Operative Tobacco Marketing Association. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Cherry and daughter and Mrs. Ellena Brett, of Kelford, spent Sunday afternoon the guest of relatives and friends here. Mr. V. D. Strickland motored to his old home in Zebulon, N. C., last Frida where he spent the week as the guest of relatives and friends. Quite a large crowd of peanut growers of this section attended the stockholders meeting of the Peanut Exchange held in Suffolk last Wed nesday. Mr. Jamie Sean, a student of Oak Ridge Institute, arrived Monday to be at the bedside of his mother, Mrs. A. P. Sean, whose illness is reported this week. There will be a home-coming day Friday at the Baptist church, held by the Missionary Society. - Public din ner will be served and a large crowd is expected. The stock of the Knickerbocker Army and Navy Store of New York, has recently been purchased by the local Army and Navy store and will be put on sale here in the near future. Meesn. C. W. and S. W. Sean, of Kinoaha, Wis., were called to the bed side of their mother, Mn. A. P. Sean at Union, Monday. Mn. Sean was stricken with paralysis last Friday morning. Two public water fountains are be ing installed this week on Main street. One for stock will be located in front of the postofflce and the drinking fountain will be located in front of E. J. Gerock's store. Miss Unie Vinson and Miss Ella Pierce, who recently completed their training as foreign missionaries at Louisville, Ky., returned home last Saturday. After spending a month at home they will report to head quarters at Raleigh, N. C. for further instructions. Four hundred and thirty-five people were vaccinated in Ahoskie last Sat urday for typhoid fever and diptheria by Dr. L. K. Walker. These vacci nations are made possible by the State and County Health Officers and the people will do well by taking ad vantage of same. These treatments will be given free for three more Saturdays and everyone should take advantage of it. > , ? STRICKEN BY PARALYSIS Mrs. A. P. Scars, one of leading women of Hertford county, and well ! known to all, was stricken by paraly sis at her home in Union last Friday morning. Her condition was regard ed as serious for several days but she is now reported as being on the road to recovery. It is sincerely hoped by her friends that she will soon be oat again.
