NCREASE IN INFLUENZA 1 THROUGH THIS SECTION , For the last three weeks many ases of influensa have been reported a Ahoskie and vicinity. In several omes within the town, every mean er of the family has had attacks, nd were confined to their beds at he same time. Several persons have uffered with aggravated cases that ave kept them in bed for two weeks r more. Among the number are everal school children. Although not large in volume, there ave also been several cases of pneu-. aonia reported. Among those who re now' suffering with pneumonia re John Gatling, and Earl Powell, oung son of Mrs. Ruth Powell. ? .. - CAR OF BRICK BURNS An early mornifig fire yesterday ompletely destroyed three freight ars loaded with brick, cotton and amber. The cars were part of a i bring of about forty standing on the iding just north of the water tank ear the edge of town. The origin of he fire is unknown. The loss would ave been much greater had not a assing freight train been held up by he fire, and which engine was used o remove the other cars from the cene. Freight traffic was delayed several ours and the early morning pafesen er train was delayed about thirty .1 a linuieB. ] LUCIUS BRITTON DIES 1 Mr. Lucius Britton, 37 years old, 1 led of pneumonia at his home, near < It Johns, last Saturday night at 10 < 'clock. He had been sick for only few days, an attack of influenza > eveloping into pneumonia causing 1 is death. ' Funeral was held Sunday after- ' oon and burial was made in the amily cemetery at his home.
