Pollard of Winton and Mr. H. G. Snipes of Menola were vis itors in Ahoskie last Friday. Mrs. R. L. Brown was called to Richmond, Vs., this week on account of the illness of a relative. Mr. Josh Anderson, of the State Highway Commission, was the guest of his relatives in Tarboro during the week-end. Rev. V. E. Duncan and family of Mapleton spent last Friday in Ahos Ide as the guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Boulter. Mr. W. W. Lawrence and daughter, Miss Earle Lawrence, were th$ guests of relatives in Norfolk last Friday and Saturday. Mr. Stanley Vinson of Norfolk spent Saturday and Sunday in Ahos Ide with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Vinson. Mr. Russell Johnson of Milwaukee was a caller in the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Pierce Sunday and Wed nesday evenings. Mrs. Walter Corwin and children left here Sunday for Philadelphia, Pa., where she will join Mr. Corwin on a " visit to relatives. Mies Hilda Bailey, of the school faculty, was the guest of her parents in Wakefield, Vs., daring the Easter holidays. She returned to Ahoskie Monday evening. Mr. and Mrs. James Alexander, and Mr. Bryan Alexander of Suffolk, Ya., motored here last Sunday and spent the day with Mr- and Mrs. J. W. Alex, ander of East Ahoskie. Miss Lena Moore Rawles, who is taking training for nurse in the Sarah Leigh Efospital at Norfolk, spent the Easter holidays in Ahoskie with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Rawles. Mr. and Mrs. V. D. Strickland and little son returned to Ahoskie Monday after spending the Easter holidays with Mr. Strickland's parents in Zeb ulon. They made the trip by auto mobile. Mr. Starkey Jernigan of Norfolk spent last Saturday in Ahoskie. He came here to be at the bedside of his mother, Mrs. Fannie Jernigan, who was ill for several days in the home of her son, Mr. Roberts Jernigan of this town. Mr. and and Mrs. E. D. Cherry and two young children went to Rich mond, Va., Friday. Mr. Cherry re turned Monday while Mrs. Cherry and children will, remain in Richmond for an extended visit with relatives and friends. Miss Louise Buff aloe and J. Roy Parker motored to Raleigh last Mon day to witness the annual Easter Monday game between Wake Forest College and N. C. State College. The game resulted in a sixteen inning tie, score, 6-4. Traders at the drug store have been receiving free numbered cou pons with every 26c purchase, which entitled each holder to a chance. MOVES SHOE SHOP 8. P. Burgess, who conducts a shoe repairing establishment here, has moved from the brick structure in East Main street to the Garrett A Jernigan building on railroad street. The furniture department of this building has been remodeled, water installed, and a well ordered room built in for the shoe business. FACTORY IN SIGHT Stock for a bag, twine and wrap ping paper factory is being solicited in Ahoskie. Local capital will be sought to take care of the entire cost of erection and fitting up for opera tion. Several thousand dollars worth of stock has already been aubecribed; and indications point to success for the vunture. HORTON PERSONALS Miss Bertha Powell spent Sunday with home folks here. Mr. H. W. Greene went to Cole rain one day last week. We are sorry to report Miss T. E. Powell and J. Wince Parker on the sick list this week. Miss Emma Ruby Powell spent the week end with relatives in Gates. Misses Norma and Fay Croon of Roxobel spent Sunday with Miss Reva Minton. Misses Bessie and Bertha Powell and Carew Odom went to Ahoskie Saturday on ? shopping tour. MUkls. Edgar Powell and H. W. Miss Margie Evans spent several days in town last week with her sis ter, Mrs. H. E. Wilson. Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Montague went to Ahoslde last Tuesday. The revival at the Baptist Church last week was largely attended. Rev. Lineberry giving us some good ser mons. Mrs. J. S. Deans of Ahoslde spent several days in town last week. Mr. M. T. Wilson went to Norfolk last Wednesday. Harrellsville played basket-ball with Colerain team last Wednesday. Both sides did good playing but Cple rain won the game. Meadames Beasley and Montague left last Friday for Wilaon to spend the week-end. Miss Martha White who teaches at New Bern came last Friday to spend the Easter holidays with her parents. The small children of the Baptist Sunday School had an Easter egg hunt at the river last Monday after noon which ems much enjoyed. The Womans Missionary Society is observing the week of prayer this week, meeting at the church. Mr. Darden of Norfolk, represent ing the Fuller Brush Co. was in town last Monday taking orders. The Masons are having meetings this week having a series of lectures. POWELLSVILLE NEWS Mr. J. E. Jordan, wife and daugh ter, Gladya, were shoppers in Ahoekie Saturday. Dr. J, B. Ruffin took a patient to Grace hospital, Raleigh last Sunday. Miss Mary Raynor is gradually im proving after being confined for a week or two with measles. Misses Clarine Wynne and Lucile Mitchell were in Ahoakie Saturday shopping. Rev. LI E. Dalley has returned home after undergoing a minor oper ation at Sarah Leigh hospital, Norfolk and was able* to fill his regular ap pointment here Sunday. Miss Mary Waters spent the Easier holdiays with her brother at Ocean View, Va. MissA Helen Wolfiey, Bessie Prit chard and Elisabeth Ruffin wen to Suffolk Saturday shopping. The Senior Class of the Man Mill High school rendered the play "A Poor Married Man" here Friday night and which was very much enjoyed and did credit to the class. While here Miss Gladys Jordan, the presi dent of the class, entertained them. Mrs. W. A. Wynns, who represent ehe W. M. S. at Durham this week, has returned home. Mrs. H. C. Waters and children spent Easter with her brother, Mr. C. T. Wynns at Rocky Mount. Dr. and Mrs. J. B. Ruffin were visitors in Winton Tuesday and Wed nesday. Several of our people attended the subscription dance held in Sessoms Hall Friday evening, Ahoskie. Miss Helen Wolfiey spent Easter with her parents at GatesviUe. Mr. and Mrs. J. J.
