Mr. J. C. Beasley made a business trip to Windsor lsst Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Harrell were callers in Ahoskie last Tuesday. Sheriff Cooper of Windsor was in tosm last Wednesday. A party from Woodland spent last Wednesday afternoon at Pleasure Beach. i Superintendent Early of Windsor1 visited the school on last Wednesday. Some of our young people attend ed the commencements at Riverside last Wednesday evening. Mrs. Eva Holly went to Merry Hill last Wednesday. There was a reception given by the Womans Missionary Society on last Wednesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Britton in honor of Mrs. Lineberry. Mr. L. D..Perry made a business trip to Norfolk last Thursday. Rev. Bristow, Mesdaraes Bristow and Wilson, spent last Thursday in Ahoslde. . I Mr. W. A. Tadlock of Windsor was in town last Thursday. Mesdames Powell and Cullens of Harrellsville spent last Thursday af ternoon in town. There was a picnic at the Beach last Thursday. Key. Line berry and Rev. Bristow attended the union meeting which was held at Como last Friday and Saturday. Mr. and and Mrs. D. R. Britton were visitors in Ahoskie last Friday. Mr. Blair of Raleigh.was in town last Friday looking after the erection of the new school building. Mrs. A. D. White entertained her Sunday School class last Friday evening at her home, after that giv ing them a hay ride. Mesdames Montague, Beasley and Misses Montague and Morris went to Norfolk last Friday. Mrs. Martha Askew and children spent last Saturday in Windsor with relatives. News was received here Sunday of the death of Mrs. Mollie Perry who lives near here. She was a member of the Colerain Baptist church. Rev. Lineberry gave us ah extra sermog last Sunday morning and had an appointment at Christian Harbor in the afternoon and Harrellsville at night. Miss Lizxie Brinkley who taught at Zebu]on the past session returned home last Monday. Mrs. C. L. Henry left last Monday for Baltimore where she will pur chase a new line of summer hats. Mr. J. A. Long was a business call er in Ahoskie last Monday. Several of our people attended the burial of Mis. Mollie Perry on last Monday afternoon at the family bury ing ground. Services were conducted by her pastor, Mr. Lineberry. Miss Amanda Leary who has been teaching at Zebulon has returned home for the vacation. The Parent-Teachers Association have their meeting on next Thurs day evening. They hope to have a good attendance. Mr. T. E. Beasley has returned from Baltimore having spent several weeks there. Mr. J. C. Bell of Windsor was in town lest Monday. COMO NEWS J. B. Darden of Newaoms waa in Como Wednesday on business. H. McD. Spiers was in Franklin Monday afternoon. Mrs. H. E. Bailey of Newsoms who hae been spending some time with her parents, D. and Mrs. T. I. Bur bage, has returned to her home. E. W. Cooke and J. H. White spent Saturday night in the home of the latter in Merry Mill. Misses Antionette Picot, Lucije > Duckworth and Mr. G. C. Hill were in Franklin Saturday night The Bertie Union meeting which convened with Buckhorn Baptist chttrch last Friday and Saturday was largely attended and an unusually good program was rendered. Miss Kate Gillam who has been sick at her boarding house is able to resume her school duties again. Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Gardener of Franklin were among the Virginia visitors here for the Union meeting on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Jones and daughter, Miss Ruth Jones of South Quay, Vs., were visitors here Satur day. Dr. L. W. Barbae* of Baltimore stopped over on his way to Southern Pines and spent the week-end with | Us parents, Dr. and Mrs. T. L Bur bage. Dr. Bnrbage was Joined here by his sisters and brother, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Campbell and Miss Mir iam Burbage who motored over from Plymouth for the week end. Rev. N. B. Foushee of Windsor, Vs., has been spending some days with his daughter, Mrs. Marvin Rafley. Sunday morning Mr. Foushee preached to his old congre gation at New Hope church. The Como chool faculty were en tertained at supper last Wednesday evening in the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Ferguson of the Statesville com munity. i Among the Cbmo shoppers in Mur freesboro Monday afternoon were Mr. and Mrs. S. P. Winborne, Mrs. S. D. Howell, Mrs. W. J. Hill and Wil liam HRl. In the beauty contest of the Como High School to raise funds for the Hertford County monument to the World War boys of the county. Miss Rachel Hill won the most votes for the prettiest girl in school. Miss Vir ginia Hill gave her a dose race. Last Monday at his seine beach, Mr. J. B.
