The Womaas* Missionary Society had their regular meeting at the church last Friday afternoon, and had a good program but not a very large attendance. Mr. POston Godwin of GatesviHe spent last Thursday and Friday here with relatives. The young men of the town gave a minstrel at the Academy on last Friday evening. Death of Mr. Joseph Carter The funeral of Mr. Joseph Carter, who died last Sunday night at St. Christophers Hospital, Norfolk, was held st the home Tuesday afternoon by Rev. E. N. Gardner.
