Miss Anna Lee Carter, who has been a student at East Carolina Teachers College for the past term, returned Wednesday to spend her vacation with her mother, Mrs. M. B. Carter. Mr. Raymond M. Conwell left last Thursday afternoon for Norfolk where he will spend some time. Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Clak and daugh ter, Miss Estelle Clark, spent the past week-end in Macclesfield as the guest of their daughter, Mrs. Y. M. Barber. Mr. John B. Jordan, who has been with his little son, John Richard at the Protestant Hospital, Norfolk for the past week, returned to his home here Sunday. Downs, after spending the past week in town, returned to his home in Norfolk, Saturday. Mrs. J. D. Lang is visiting her brother in Norfolk. The water tank at the Cofteld Manufacturing Company's mill caught on fire Saturday. The damage was slight. Mr. Harry Jones spent Sunday in the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. T. New some of Winton. Mr. Andrew Downs of Norfolk has been spending quite a while with his brother, Mr. J. A. Downs. Mr. and Mrs. Willie Parr and child ren of South Tunis were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Modlin went to Lewiston Friday morning to be at the bedside of her mother, who is critically ill. On Friday afternoon, June 8, little Stanley Harrell entertained a number of his little friends in the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Harrell in honor of his ninth birthday anniversary. Church held its regular meet ing Sunday, toorning immediately af ter Sunday School: A very interest ing program was rendered and to show you that these little folks are not asleep on their job, they have presented the church with a new in dividual communion set which will ar rive shortly.
