Also a crowd from Woodland were there, chaperoned by Mrs. Keys. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. White of Wil son spent several days laat week with Mr. and Mrs. Es White. A crowd of young people of Un ion occupied Lazy Hill camp last week. They reported a big time. Miss Ruby Joyner and Mr. Boyette were married last Tuesday at Wilson. Mrs. Mary Baker from Thomas ville was a visitor in town last Tues day. Mr. J. P. Nowell went to Norfolk last Tuesday. Miss Beec^am of Mississippi is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Walters. Mr. Howard Basnight of Ahoskie was in town last Wednesday . There was a picnic at the Beach on last Wednesday from Roxobel. Mr. Ralph Glover from Norfolk is visiting his sister, Mrs. L- A. Perry. Mrs. Glover was reared near here but has been gone for some time. Mr. J. H. Myers went to Ahoskie last Wednesday to visit his son. Miss Bell of Durham spent sever al days last week with Mrs. L. A. Perry. The directors of the Colerain bank had a meeting Thursday. There was a called meeting of thej Parent-Teachers Association at thei hall on last Wednesday evening. Mrs. L. E. Stokes left Saturday for Windsor to visit relatives. Mr. Tarkenton and sister, Flora, from Merry Hill came last Saturday to visit Mr. and Mrs. L. H. White. Rev. Mr. Walters filled his regular appointment at Christian Harbor on last Saturday and Sunday. Mr. Will Stokes of Rich Square spent last Sunday here with parents. Mr. C. B. He has been elect ed principal of the school for the ap proaching term. Mr. James Saunders and Miss An nie Mae Morris left last Mondayfor Mars Hill where they will enter the' school. Superintendent Earley of Windsor was here last Monday in the interest of our school. Mr. R. L. Phelps of Ahoskie was in town last Monday. WATERS NORMAL WILL GET APPROPRIATION According to information gathered at Winton last Monday, the County Board of Education has accepted the proposal of the Waters Normal In stitute, colored, to relinguish con trol to the county and state, the lat ter to convert it into a county high school and teacher training school for Hertford County negroes. An appro priatlon has been made to the school at Winton and it will become county property. Ahoskie colored educators and in dividuals of that race are now mak ing strong efforts to vote upon them selves a special school Ux for the purpose of continuing their school here. At present, they have little or no support other than by private sub scriptions.
