Prof Harris, of the Randleman Graded School was here Saturday. County Supt of Public Schools, J M Way, is confined to his home by sickness. Misses Eva and Jessie Asbury, of Asbury, spent Saturday with Mrs J P Boroughs. Mr Henry Robins returned Saturday from a business trip to Washington. Mrs Joe Person has been here this neek iu the interest of her well known remedy. Mrs B B Burns, of High Point, came down Tuesday to visit her son, Capt A E Bums.. Miss Laura Stimsou went to Ran-' dleman Saturday and spent a few hours between trains. F C Richardson, Depot Agent lor the A & A Ry, spent Sunday with Mr T J Ellis at Seagrove. Mr H C Ingram, of Star, visited Asheboro Saturday and was a wel come visitor at this office. Mr Jno T Moffitt has been on a crutch for about three weeks on ac count of a kick by a horse. Mr II D Scarboro, of Lexington, was here the first of the week to see his daughter, Mrs W A Coffin. The Ramblers will meet with Misses Stimson and Tornlinson at Mrs W C Hammer's on Friday, at 4 p m. Mrs Jean Rush and children re lumed from Troy Monday, where they have been visiting Mrs Rush's parents. Miss Etta Blair returned from High Point Saturday night, after a week's visit to her sister, Mrs A M. Rankin. Miss Cam Lindley, daughter of Mr J Vann Lindley, of Pomona, spent Sunday here with Miss Annie Tomlinson. Messrs T O McAlister, of Spray .and J T Council, of Randleman, spent Sunday here at Col A C JHcAlister'i. Rev and Mrs W E Swain enter tained the Christian Endeavors at their. home on South Fayetteville Street on Tuesday, Prof Waburton, instructor of the Citizen's Band is instructing two new members', Mr E Moffitt,cor net and Mr 0 W Rich, drum. Frank Boyles. who has been with the National Bank of Greensboro, has accepted a position with the First National Bank of High Point. 0 J Denny, of Greensboro, manager of this district for the Singer Sewing Machine Compay is in the city inspecting the local office in charge of W H Langston. The Ladies Aid Society will give an oyster supper at the Academy Saturday night for the benefit of the destrict parsonage of the M E church at Greensboro. Every body is invited. Miss Lucie Elliott left the first of last week for High Point returning Friday evening with her mother, Mrs Jane Elliott who has been spending Eome time with her son Mr S C Elliott, at Marian. Mr Cicero Bean and family, of Central Falls, have moved into the residence recently vacated by Mr Chas Parson's, on Strong street. Mr Frank freeman, of Greens boro visited relatives and friends in the city Saturday night and Sunday. Mr Will Free, who holds a clerk ship with the Southern R R Com pany at Randleman spent Sunday evening in the city. Mr Arthur Ellison is erecting a residence on his property near the the northern limits of town which he hopes to have completed in a short time. Mr James Dickens and Miss Mol lis Pool, both employees of the Ran dolph Mfg Company, were married last week and have just returned from a visit to Asheboro and other points. Mr Bud Pool, who occupied the Frazier residence, on R. R. Ave has moved to Worthville. Mr Cicero Thomas, of Ramseur, attended a meeting of Hanks Lodge at this place Saturday night. Mr J K Uockman, or tne ureens boro Patriot, was in town Monday. Mr G C Cox and son Jesse, have rented the Washington Fox farm Liberty and are preparing for a large corn crop the comming season. Mr Lonnie Welch visited wr Lewis Hayes Sunday near Macks Mills. Mr and Mrs Calvin Moon, of Coffeeville Ark., are visiting friends and relatives in this section. Mr Ned McCorquodale, a young formerly of this place but late of Greensboro, was accidently shot one day last week by some boys who were shooting at a mart. Mr mc Corquadale was passing. The bul let glanced entering his left leg be low the knee. He is now at home and it is hoped that he will be able to return to his work iu a few days. Miss Mamie Free visited Miss An nie Brady Sunday. We had another little wreck on the Southern near town Friday morning but no damage done. The train has been wrecked at this place several times heretofore, but Capt Peak is doing a special job of work at thia point which he hopes will prevent any future trouble. Mr John W Glass, of Wilson, N C, has been spending a week with his mother and friends. He return ed Monday to resume his duties as book keeper for the Pierce-White-head Hdw Co of that place. We are having a good school here, although our teacher has had so many drawbacks. We have a good modern school building, erected principally through the efforts of that grand old man Mr O It Cox, who is always interested and anx ious to encourage nd help young people whom he sees trying to do some good. But the people, or some of them at least, do not appreciate their good teacher nor the nice comforta ble school building for there is only one boy from the lower part of this little village attending school now and he is a little negro and is going three or four miles in the country to attend a school. And another thing I want to say, any tanner that isn t in ravor or better roads in this county well he isn't very progressive that's the mildest dose I have. Ramttur Ittmt. Mr Max Qichner, that prime of good fellows, spent Sunday at Hotel Kamseur. Mrs D M Baldwin, who has been spending some time with her sister, Mrs Dr late, left for her home at Clarkton Monday. Mr Wm Reitzel, of Greensboro, spent Saturday and Sunday in town. Mr M V Brooks, of Park's Cross Roads, moved into Mr J O Forres ter's commodious house on Liberty street this week. Rev Dr J B Richardson preahced in the Baptist church Sunday, preaching his usual powerful and practical sermons. Siuee the last issue of The Cou rier Ramseur has lost two of its best citizens. Mr Thomas L Jones died at his residence January 17th, aged 41 years. Mr A K Wilson died at hishome in Ramseur Janua ry 19th, aged 50 years. Prof. W S Needham will hold a Spelling Bee at Prospect School house next Friday night. The saw mill of Carter and Fraz ier will be moved to the Reed Yount's place next week. Wilson White, of Thomasville visited Archdale Sunday. Miss Mary Frazier visited Mrs C W Wilson last week. The whr at in this section is look ing much better. Death of Mrs Fox. A grave silence was cast over Stalev Mondav evening when the death of Mrs C P Fox was announc ed. She died about eight o'clock bavins endured much suffering without a murmur during her ill ness. She leaves a husband and two daughters. and manv relatives and friends to mourn their loss. There was a large attendance at the funeral services Tuesday. The interment was in the new cemetary recently located here. The family and many -friends note with sadness her departure but they realize that she has passed from this earthly house to the house of many mansions or. high.
