Tysor left Monday to httend the funeral of Mrs. Tysor's brother, Mr. Hampton Manri, who died at Los Angles, Cal., May 6th. We were all pained to heAr of Mr.' Hampton's death. He was a good man and a conscientious Cyhristian. All who knew him respected his saintly life and will cherish his Christian deeds. The family have the sympathy' of all the community. . Next Sunday is our regular preaching day and onr good pastor, Mr, Eads, will preach a special sermon to the aged. ' All are cor dially invited. In 18C? he held a commission under General Canby authorizing him to administer the oath of allegiance to North Caro liuians. He later was elected clerk of the superior court and judge of the probate court, which positions he held for six years. He subse quently held ; positions . of impor tance in the internal revenue service until appointed to ther pension bu reau in 1883. He now retires from the government service to manage au electric supply and construction company, and to oversee valuable real estate which he possessed before entering the government service in Washington. Mr. Lee Caviness, who carried some passengers 18 miles south of town Sunday, was asked on his return where he had been. He re plied he did not know, neither did he want to know; but said he saw 12 miles from town where people were kiln drying cross ties m order that they could haul more at a load to Ramseur.
