The following lines were found by a Confede rate soldier in a deserted house on the Penin mla, Virginia : "Into each life some rain must fall." If this were all oh I if this were all That into each life some rain must fall, There were fainter sobs in the poet's rhyme, There were fewer wrecks on the shores of time. But tempests of woe pass over the soul Since winds of anguish we cannot control; And shock after shock we are called to bear, Till lips are white with the heart's despair. The shores of time with wrecks are strewn, Unto the ear comes over a moan Wrecks of hopes that set sail with glee, Wrecks of love sinking silently. Many are hid from the human eye, Only God knoweth how deep they lie; Only God beard when arose the cry, "Help me to bear oh! help me to bear." "Into each life some rain must fall," If this were all oh! if this were all: Yet there's a refuge from storm and blast, Gloria Patri we'll reach it at last. , Be strong, be strong, to my heart Ixjry, The pearl in the wounded shell doth lie; Days of sunshine are given to all, Tho "into each life some rain must fall." For what I know of it, I would as soon chase butterflies for a living, or bottle moon shine for a cloudy night. The only way to be happy is to take the drops of happiness as God gives thetu to us every day of our lives. The boy must learn to be happy while he is learning his trade; the merchant while be is making his fortune. If he fails to learn this art, he will be sore to miss his enjoymeDt when he gains what he has sighed for." GREAT REDUCTION IN PRICES.
