It renders the water , soft, and the addition of soda is not necessary. Those of our readers who purchase calicoes of lad colors; that is, colors that will not hold, can easily remedy tho matter by soaking the goods in boiling water, strongly impregnated th com mon salt. Let the preparation be two or three pints of water to two or thteo gills of salt, and while at white heat, soak your calico.
