The cranberry b destined to become a valua ble product in liorth Caxolinx We therefore publish some information, from the New Jersey papers, to show how successfully it is cultivated id that and other States. Ihe cranberry crop of Cape Cod the present rear amounts to 10,000 barrels, of which a large portion are said to have been cut severely by the irost. In Ocean county it will reach 16,000 barrels, and New Jersey entire will probably produce 40,000 barrels. Other States, Michi gan, New York, North Carolina, New England aud other localities, will probably produce 50, 000 barrels, making as the probable crop for the United States the present year 100,000 barrels, or 300,000 bushels, of which New Jersey pro duces nearly one-half, consequently she can con trol the price of the crop. The value of the crop cannot tall short of 61,200,000, and this im mense sum ia harvested from what has been con sidered worthless swamp lands. Much of this land has been wrested from the possession of wild animals, wild morasses, over which even the light footed Indian, or still lighter squirel could hardly tread without miring, And these worthless swamps, now improved in the cran berry culture with bearing vines, are worth Sl, 000 per a-rc.
