Popping Corn. And there they eat a popping corn, John Stiles and Susan Cutter; Jvhn Stiles as stout as an ox, And Susan fat as butter. And there thej sat and shelled the corn? And raked and stirred the Tire, And talked of different kinds of ara, And hitched their chairs up nigher. Then Susan she the popper shook, Then John he shook the popper, Till both their face3 grew as red As saucepans made of copper. And then they shelled, and popped and ate, All kinds of fun a popping, And he haw-hawed at her remarks, And she laughed at his joking. And stilj tixey popped, and still they ate, (John's mouth was like a hopper.) And stirred the fire, and sprinkled salt, And shook and shook the popper. The clock struck nine, the clock struck ten, And still the corn kept popping: It struck eleven and then struck twelve, And still no signs of stopping. And John he ate, and Sue she thought The corn did pop and patter, Till John cried out, "The corn's afire! Why, Susan, what's the watter?" Said she, "John Stiles, it's one o'clock; You'll die of indigestion; I'm sick of all this popping corn Why don't you pop the question?" The children of this fast age need praying for. We commend the appeal to all parents and to christians of all denominations : Prayer job Little Children. Forty years from the present time the govern ment of our country and the control of the church will be in the hands of a generation now at their mothers' breasts. This truth should bring home to the heart of every christian the duty of special prayer for the children of our country. For this purpose let fervent, persevering prayer and supplications be offered up in all our churches on the Sabbath, at the weekly prayer meeting, at the family altar, and in the closet, to the God of all grace, that he would bless our children and raise up from them a generation to His praise, and the future glory of His church. It was the habit of our Saviour to love and bless little chil dren. Let us follow his example and we may hope for the most happy results. EMIGRATION And Real Estate Agency.
