Divorrrs. In reading the numerous exchanges whidi reaoh ue, we' are struck with the large array of divorce cases chronicled. In our section, where ?uch things are of rare oc currence, we arc amazed at seeing the marriage rites so often broken, apparently for no just cause, eave hy whim or caprice. In Vermont during the last five years not less than 571 divorces have been granted; fur adul tery 1C4, wilful desertion 188, desertion CO, in tolerable severity 12G. for refusal to support 13, withtwenty others for causes that are not men tioned. In Massachusetts for the same time 1,251 divorces have been granted; for adultery 54G, .desertion 5S0, cruelty 122, intemperance 21, Jiere the ratio for adultery is startling. In Ohio, out of 2.C81 cases granted for divorce, 35 were for adultery; 1,130 for absence or neglect; for cruelty 480 ; for intemperance 190. In Vermont during seven years 15,710 mar riages have taken place ; out of which 730 divorces have occurred, being 1 to 21. In Massachusetts for four years there were 45,372 marriages, and divorces in ratio 1 to 44. In Ohio for the year 18GG, the marriages were 30,379 ; and divorces in ratio 1 to 20. Jc Connecticut during the last S years the marriages were 33,227 ; the divorces in ratio 1 to 11. It is remarkable in the New England States that they do not increase in population save among the Irish. "Fapa, I think you told a fib in the pulpit to day,' said a little son of a clergyman. "Why, jny boy, what do you mean V atked the father. 'You said." continued the child, '- One word more and I have clone.' Then you went on ami said a great many words. The people expected you'd leave off, 'cause you promised them; but you didn't, and kept cn preaching a long while after the time was up." Deems, (August 23d, 1802.) says: "1 have derived great benefit from thesd Pills, and have known many families and individuals who have found them very beneficial, and I have also known physicians in excellent standing to recommend them to their patients. For all diseases arising from dis orders of the liver, I believe they arc the best medi cine offered to the public." Rev. John Ar. Potter, Snow Hill, N. C, (January 5th, 18G3.) says: "For twelve years I was a great sufferer. My liver was diseased. I lot my flesh and strength, and my skin scenred changed in its color by the bile with which my system was over charged. 1 became subject to frequent and violent attacks of billious cholic, every attack leaving me weaker than its predecessor. The physicians had been able to patch me up a little, but my health was in a deplorable state. I had taken patent medicines until I was tired of them. AVithout energy or com fort, I was barely able to go about a little. Ai length I yielded to the earnest persuasion of a friend and commenced taking the HEPATIC PILLS, with no confidence in them. They acted like a charm on me. From that hour I hf-vc improved? I have persevered in their use, until now, by God's blessing, I am well and hearty. I had a negro man, who, as I believe, was saved from death by a dose of these Pills. My Doctor's bill was annually from $100 to $200, but I have had no use for a physician since.
