Davis reports to the Fay etteville News that ibis twelve acres of oats are killed by the freeze, and he thinks the oat crop generally killed. The beds of marble on the lines of the Murphy division of the Western North Carolina railroad are proving to be of greater extent and of finer qual ity than was at first thought. The onlv nassenirer hurt was Dr. Lafferty, of Richmond, who was standing in the sleeping car, jiind was Knocked down and bruised, but not seriously. The accident was caused by criminal negligence, lhe freight train was on a side track waiting the arrival of the express, lhe conductor told his brake man, bamuel Vie, that when the ex press passed he should turji the switch.
