Harrell and Mrs. Jane F. Robinson of Tarboro. Boy Scout Work ?Address By Presi dent Roosevelt. From February 8 to 14 Graham Boy Scouts will be engaged in some special activities. At 12 o'clock, noon, on Febru ary 10, all scouts aud former scouts, members old troop No. ti, are invited to meet at a place to oe designated, to hear Presideui Roosevelt's anniversary address to the Boy Scouts of America. For auy other information in regard to the program -the scouts may see Scout Master VV. Carl Longest, who was honored at the recent meeting at lieidsville by being elected Deputy Commis sioner for this district. Weather of All Sorts Inside a Week. Here it was bitter cold Monday, Tuesday aud Wednesday, but on the last named there was some evidence of moderation. Mauy took note of theriuomeler read iugs?from zero up to seven. As a sort of Quale, sometime during last uiglii, between mid night and dawn, it snowed and this was followed by rain. To early risers the only evidence of it having snowed was a little slush. Aud today, up to this writing, it is raining most of the time. It has been a spell of real old time wiuter weather most of us will readily agree. Dr. J. U. Newman's Home Burned at Elon College. Ou Wednesday afternoon be tween 3 and 4 o'clock, the resi dence of Dr. J. LJ. Newman at Elon College, caught on tire and was completely burned up. Almost the entire family was at home and unaware that the house was buruiugover their heads un til au alarm was given. All pos sible help was rendered. Only a portion of the furnishings down stairs was saved. The greatest loss was Dr. Newman's tine library which he had accumulated during a lifetime. He has the sympathy of many friends in his serious loss.
