Classes will be resumed Mon day. ?Jimmie s Beauty Salon on Hard en, street, reopened Monday morning after being closed for several weeks for renovating. ?Rev. and Mrs. O. L. Hathaway ar rived last week from St. Paul and ajre at home in the Methodist parsonage on North Main street. Rev. Hathaway, who replaced Rev. J. J. Boone, preach ed his first sermon in the Methodist church here last Sunday morning. ?L. J. Goodman, who allegedly rob bed the Graham bus station of $70 on the night of September 17, wns given a preliminary hearing Friday ? night, and was acquitted, according to C. C. Bayliff, Justice of the Peace. Good man's case will not go before Superior Court due to insufficient evidence against him. ?The 40th Annual Christmas Seal Campaign, being sponsored' locally by the Alamance County Tuberculosis As sociation, was opened officially Sun day, November 24, by E. Z. Jones, County Seal Sale Chairman, on Station WBBBSe Sunday afternoon program the "Alamance County News Reel", with' public donations be-.ng solicited through Seal purchases until December 25. Garden Club Meets The "Graham Garden club held its, regular monthly meeting Tuesday aft ernoon of last week at the home of . Mrs. Frank Warren. In the absence of the president, Mrs Samuel C- Beck, the vice-pfosldefcit, Mrs. John Stratford, presided over the business of the meeting. Mrs. Ben Lee gave as the program for the meeting, an informative and entertaining dis cussion on "Interesting House Plans or the Sun Room Garden." To illustrate her subject. Mns. Lee displayed charm ing arrangements of indoor gardens. She especially emphasized attractive arrangements for children. Mrs. J. G. Black made the table ar rangement for the afternoon particular ly appropriate for the Thanksgiving table. Rotary Club Meeting ? J. E. Baker was guest speaker at the .local Rotary club meeting at Green Gables last Thursday night. Taking for his topic "Thinking Straight." Mr. Baker stated that America is still at the crosa-roads for straigt thinking. "We want something different." he said, "and it is up to our God-given minds to work it out. We must above all, believe in ourselves and that every man has a chance fo^r himself. President A. M. Stack presided at the meeting and the invocation was given by Allen Tate. DEATHS Doug-la* Allen. 22, died Saturday morning In a hospital In Aaheboro fol io Wong an automobile accident. He waa returning from a football gairo In Al bemarle Friday evening when the acci dent occurred. Hospital authorities said he suffered a fractured sk-jjl. Allen, who waa employe1, at Longest Shoe Shop here as a repairman, wis a veteran of several yeais of service In the aTroy, and has been in Graham for three months. He is survived by his wife, the farm er Miss Ruth CTanfoid of Wadesboro and a two-year-old sou. Mrs. M. J. McFarland, 72. wife of the late Rev. Miles McFaTland of Mebane, died suddenly at hed home in Mebane last Friday morning of a heart attack. She had been In declining bealt for the past year. Surviving are one son. Rev. W. G. McFarland of Brevard, and four grand children, one of whom Is North Lynch of here. Mrs Sarah Jane 8qutres, Id, died Wednesday night of last week, at her home on Route l? Burlington, after three days of critical illness. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at Union Ridge church by Rev. Kenneth Register and Elder W. C. King.
