Two men, we failed to get their names, passed through Louisburg.on Wednesday, in an automobile. They Haid that they came from Atlanta and were on their way to Richmond, Va. The North Carolina Medical Society will meet this year in Ashe ville. By special lequest of the Chairman of Railroad Surgical de partment, Dr. J. E. Malone, of Louisburg, will read a paper on Rail road Surgery. Miss Annie' Spericer4Joneg-j of Raleigh, a young lady-who has quite' a number of friends, and -acquaintances in Louisburg, was married in Richmond, Va., last week, to Mr. L. K. Wooteu, of Kinston. It was rather a romantic affair. A horse lert standing hitched to a buggy last Saturday did some fast running about the streets, and when he was stopped there was only a part of one wheel left of the buggy. The horse escaped with a few scratches and bruises. A mule frightened at the ap proach of an automobile near the depot, one day this week, almost stood on his bead, and the man driv ing him jumped out of the bugty, and completed the job by standing on his. No serious damage. Dr. J. E. Malone, Senator B. T. Holden, J. S. Lancaster, and F. W. Hicka, attended the District meeting of the Knights of Phythias at Hen derson last week. Dr. Malone ""re aponded to the following toast: "The little amenities in the life and con duct of a Pythian." This has been commencement week at Wake Forest and quite a number of our people attended. The literary address was by Dr. Charles F. Aked, a prominent Baptist divine f New York. His address, took pi ace yesterday. The attendance is reported as being quite large. The Times is requested by the thairman to state that G. D. Taylor, of Cedar Rock Lodge, has been sub stituted on all committees for ; the Masonic Rally in place of T. H, Sledge, and W. H. This is the money that is going to Davidson College and to get 175,000 the friends of the institution and the Presbyterian Church is expected to put up $225,000. If the friends of Davidson College can raise $225,000 they can raise $75,000 additional. If they can't the college could get along without it. But the idea oi about all of the educational institu tions and-the, greater portion of the churches now'is to get money, no matter how it is made.
