Inasmuch' as it has pleased our heav enly Father to -take from us our most - beloved, noble and generous hearted brother Willis Moors Boone, we as the msmbers of Cedar Rock' Lodge No. 288 A. F. & 111. both individually and as a lodge, desire to place on record' this tribute to his memory. Brother Boone was born Noy. 15th 1865, near Cedar Rock in Franklin county, and died in a Richmond hos pital Jan. SOth 1912. He loved Masonry? and reached the sublime degree of master mason at Cedar Rock in June 1998. ? He did not ? rest here however, but true to his pro gressive nature soen took the Royal Arch degree and became a member of Louisburg Chapter, on his removal to that town a few years later. The influence surrounding his youth and early manhood were sueh as to "awaken and keep alive the best impul ses of his nature, and we beleive tbey were effectual. him, for aside from his leadership in the lodge, he serve<hw superintendent of the Sunday school and treasurer of Cedar Rock church for a number of years. Possessing a voice which to ih* keen ear was peculiarly musical, he was in atrumontal in improving ? ?ur church ? music trf a great degree. , As he grew older his popularity broadened until, it enelrcled Franklin county, and it soon became evident that any office within his reach was his for the asking. He had his faults ? these we lcaye with a just and merciful God, who knoweth our frame and .j-emembereth ? we are dual? hut his virtues outweigh ed his failings. Gratitude, genstosity and kindness were among his cheif virtues. So high ly did he esteem the first that one of his expressed wishes to his oldest daughter was t&at she might neVer be ungrateful. He was generous to a ; fault, seldom, if ever, turned away the needy or refused to grant a favor. He was unusually kind to the aged, afflicted and distressed, and children loyed him. He is a philisopher indeed who can only show the bright side, keeping the dark ever in tlie background ? fluch was brother Boone. His nature ever sloped to the sunny side, and he loved to make others happy. Surely for these alone one can we hope that it will be said to him, "Inasmuch as ye have done unto the least of these my brethen. ye have done It unto me." Therefore be it resolved, 1st, That we bow in humble submis ?ion to the divine will, beleiVing that He knoweth best and doeth all things well. 2nd, That we extend our heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family in I thier great less, which we feel to be - ours also. We pray that Gods richest blessings will rest upon them, and that they will ever look to him as thier father. 3rd, That a copy of these resolnnions be spread upon the records of this lodge as a lasting manorial of brother Boone who will be so much missed by -those who loved him. 4th. That a copy be sent to his im mediate fkmijy, his aged mother, lira. Cerneha Boone, and to the Funux Timbs and Orp?aas Friend for publica tion. _ " ? . W. r. STALUitoa. * . W. B.
