Though the farmeia are quite busy these hot days that July has brought us. yet they are very well up with their work. Crop* are in general very small but have a good color.* Mr. T. II. Dickens has sold the larger part of his 1912 cotton crop. It seems like the old saying "a butnt child dreads tire," therefore he has just built a nice large storage house for his next crop. There were quite a nnmber of the young people of our vicinity who a# tended St. John's Day at Oxford on June 24th, and report having a good and enjoyable trip. Elder W. H. Collins, the pastor of Plain View Church, and John W. Wood attended a union meeting over in John ston county on the fifth Sundav and Friday and Saturday before. Miss Ovie Bartholomew spent last week with her sister oyer near Red Bud Church. - Miss Nolie Collins spent Saturday night last and Sundav with her friend Miss bailie Collins. T. D. Dorsey and family were in our midst Sunday visiting his wife's people Misses Annie and Sallie Collins spent Sunday night at the home of Mr. T. M. Collins. Miss Chessie Wheless hai been spending some time with her brother, I Mr. Luke Wheless. Rev. J. W. Sledge and bride spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Baldy Dorsey. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Parrish were the happy guest of W. E. Sledge on last Sunday. Miss Mollie Conn spent Sunday after- 1 nooo with her friend. Miss Viola Pea ret. John W. Wood and family paid hia wife's teople a visit on last Snnday. Rev. J. W. Valentine and Mrs. Jessie Collins went to Nashville on special business this week. Yes, another big fine baby, and Mr. Ed. Moore is "jost shaking hands with everybody he meets. Of course you understand why Mr. Pate Davis is so polite and bowing hia head at you when he meets with his friends ? because it's just a fine baby boy. John W. Wood went to Louisburg last Monday morning on important business. Of course as usual the "do-nothing club" and the Farmers' Union are pro gressing all o. k. th se Ion c. hot sum mer days. The superintendent of the Plain Vitw Saw Mill Co. informs the writer that it is likely they will close their mill for a few weeks because they hare so much lumber 9n hand and the price is off.
