The Farmers National Bank ;.rU Louisburg, IN. C. The Cotton Market - One day last week it appears that the Louisburg cotton buyers -with drew from the market, it is alleged, as a protest against the appointment of Mr. W. Hal Mann as weigher. The streets were full of cotton, there were no buyers, and the farmers were saying in no uncertain terms , what they thought of the little fiasco. But the market was interrupted only for a short time. The Farmers National Bank was alert to the sit uation, and soon had used its good offices in getting several new buyers on the street who bid briskly on every bale of cotton, raising the price to the highest point possible. The Farmers National Bank rendered a ma terial service to its friends, the farmers. Whatever may have been the cause of the buyers quitting the mar ket, whether they thoughtjmly they could buy cotton, or that they may have owned our streets, or that they could force the commissioners'; to recede from their position, or for some other . reason not made clear, we do not know, and we will therefore not undertake to say, but we do know that the little game was an exceedingly small fiasco, that no one man owns our town, our county, or its^officers, that the farmers would not be willing to accept a cotton weigher selected by the cotton buyers, and that the great majority are very much pleased Had something of this kind come up under the old order of things, it would have been different, but the farmers are coming into their own. They now have a voice, they "speak easy and use their own bank as a big stick," and get results. Note the results that came from the stand taken by the Farmers National on the warehouse ring, which was a crea ture that is no more. Note how quickly we brought order out of "the little fiasco that confronted us last week in the cotton market. Note" these results and give us your co-operation. We have done much, but we could do a great deal more, if the farmers generally would join with us and help us on with the good work. 1 THE FARMERS NATIONAL BANK LOUISBURG.
