First Baptist Church, Colored.
Efr. N. F. Roberts, dean of the school
of Theology at Shaw University, Ral
eigh, conducted services at the First i
Baptist church, Sunday.
At Sunday school, he made a brief
review of the lesson, and at 11 o'clock !
he preached a splendid sermon on ?
"Love/' declaring that no church
could succeed where Inve. rvn? for t.hw I
other, did not exist among Its mem- i
bera. .
In the meeting of the B. Y. P. TJ. j
in the afternoon, the speaker wa^pre. !
sented by the president. Dr J. B. !
Davis, who characterized him as |
among the most gifted men of his
race. Dr. Roberts used as his sub- !
jectr?-'Strength," _*I_appeal unto ye !
young men because ye are strong,"
was the passage of scripture upon
which he based his remarks. During
the course of his address, the learned
divine urged his hearers to be strong
mentally, morally, physically, but
especially spiritually.
At the evening services the preach
er made a summary of the accompish
ments of the day, and then launched
upon a beautiful dissertation on
"Christian" Builders." He exhorted i
them to build of their bodies a temple
for God, for if this were done there
could be btillt up a Christian commu
nity.
An interesting Easter programme
will be held at the church under the
auspices of the B. Y. P. U. Sunday
from *? to 5 p. m.

In Justice to ourselves to the offi

mended by Gov. Bickett. They made

there were several errors (one in
the listing of the R. Road property
in Pranklinton township and in Mr.
Barrow's account which thety admit
ted.) They promised to send us a
corrected statement which we have
not received, and at our last meet*
Ir>? we phoned them to know when
they would meet us and adjust the
deposit In Mr. Griffin's account. They
said they would meet us about the
10th of March, at that date I had a
mr1*
work they were doing for the Govern
ment but ..would write when they
could come. We wfTl place their re
turns with Mr. C. K. Cooke, our au
ditor, who will be glad to explain to
the public and answer any Inquiry
as to the flnanee of the county in the
future. I will say here that I have
