High School play, "The Dust of the
Earth". This plaj Is brlmlng full of
fun and yet has a real story that when
completed has a good moral lesson in

ford. were united lnmarrlage last Sat
urday evening at 8 o'clock at the
manse of the First Presbyterian
church of Columbia, the pastor, Dr.
Blackwood, performing the ceremony.
The bridal party entered the parlor
to the strains of Mendelsohn's wedding
march, played by Mrs. W. E. Uzzell,
of this place, a special friend of the
bride. The bride wore a handsome
blue coat suit with accessories to
m^tch. and carried a bouquet of bride's
roses and ferns.
Mr. Wilson Macon, of Camp Sevier,
the twin brother of the groom, accom
panied the goom and Miss Louise Ma
con. the groom's sister, of this place,
accompanied the brde. Mrs. W. G.
Macon, the groom's mother, -of this
place, and a few soldier friends also
witnessed tha ceremony.
Mrs. Macon is the daughter of Mr.
Stephen Jones, of Oxford, and has been
teaching at Linden the past session.
She taught in this county last year.
She is a highly accomplished young
lady and has prominent family connec
tions.

of Education of Frankln County,
State of North Carolina, said petition
being in due form, and properly pre
sented to the Board of County Com
missioners of Franklin County,.. State
of North Carolina, It Is hereby order
ed that an election be held in said
County of Franklin, State of North
Carolina in accordance with the pro
visions of Section 4114 Pells Revlsat
190S as amended by an act of the Gen
eral Assembly of the State of North
Carolina at its session of 1911 chap
ter 71 at which election shall be as
certained the will of the people In
said County of Franklin, whether
there shall be levied on all taxable
property and polls of said County a
special tax. not to exceed 80 (thirty)
cents on the one hundred dollars val
uation of property and 90 (ninety)
cents on oach poll to. supplement'the
School Fund of said County.
The said election shall be held oil
the 14th day of May, 1918 and the
polling places shall be the usual poll
