IF IOU LOVE XK TELL XE NOW'
It you knew when in the morning
You were bidding me good bye
Tbat ere long the one that kissed you
Would beneathe the daisies lie.
Would you leave me thus so coldly
Without word or look of lore
Or a tender glance at parting
That would some affection prove?
Leave my heart all bruised and bleed
ing >
With no ray of hope ahead?
Ah the bitterness of living
When we feel that love Is dead.
I have watched you leave at morn dear
Looking on you through my tears,
Tender words of love eternal
Longed to whisper in your ears.
But you scorned the bitter tears dear
Scorned the tears I could not hide
And my heart' seemed full to bursting
With love spurned and wounded pride.
Tou may never know my darling
And perhaps 'tis better so,
For I would not have you burdened
With the heartaches that I know.
But It I one prayer were granted.
Only one to me allow, ?
This would be my prayer to you dear,
It you love me tell me now.

PCNKIN CENTER
Mr. Editor:
As the town election is near at hand,
and as SherlS Tanlac won't let us
make any grass killer, me and Span
ish Monkey have decided to enter pol
itics. I am going to run for Mayor of
your city and the Monkey for Chief
of Police. We are going to run on the
grass killer ticket which of course
means the wet ticket, and this means
that we will be elected by the biggest
majority you ever heard of. So in or.
dcr to avoid the humiiiatiou of defeat,
the best thing that Capt. Joyner and
Ben Meadows can do, is to send in
their resignations at once. If we are
elected, there will be few arrests for
drunkenness, as the Monkey claims
that a man is not drunk as long as he
can stand up on an acre of ground,
therefore he will not arrest a man for
being drunk as long as the man can
keep on his feet. But there is one
law he says he is going to enforce to
the.letter, and that is the speed law.
He says It will go tough with the man
who expeeds the seed limit. Every
body can bring all the grass killer to
town they want to, provided they will
slip us a gallon occasionally. We will
bet you two cents against your old
hat that Mr. S. K. and Sis Jane and
even Sheriff Tanlac will vote for us.
'cause they love grass killer just as
good as we do, and the only reason
they don't drink it is 'cause they can't
get it. We expect a large vote from
the Honey Bottles and Turnip Ballets
and especially the latter, 'cause most
of them like G. K. themselves. And
there is the Clerk of the Court. .Just
see how fat and greasy he looks. Did
you ever see a liner specimen of the
effects of grass killer? But since get
ting into office he had to give up his
still, and no doubt he is getting pret
ty dry, so we have no doubts about
getting his vote. Now Mr. Editor, we
are not going to ask you for your sup
port, because we know that we- have
got It already. You know us too well
ti vote against us. We are sure that
you have not forgotten the taste of
that gallon we sent you last Christ,
mas, and no doubt you wish you had
seme more Just like it Now we fish
to say to the voters of the town. You
all can now see what a greasy meat
time you would have under our ad
ministration, so you can't afford to
vote against us. Here's hoping that
the grease is running slick with you
Mr. Editor, and that you will vote for
ns and use your superfluity in our
behalf.
PREBIDffNT and MONKEY.
P. 8.?Sorry we could not get over
to the primary, but we had to run off
3 gallons of O. K. that day to flll a
hurried order for Sheriff Tanlac.
