FROM INGLESIDE Ma&gum's Service Station, op erated by W. M. Mangum. pro prietor la a new enterprise here. Mr. Mangum la to be commended (or rioting his business during tbe bours of service at the churches each Sunday. He says the same rule la observed at his other ser vice itatlon, operated by hia bro ther, M. H. Mangum, opposite the Epsom School at Epsom. t t t Perhaps one reason our good Governor has in prolonging the announcement of the gubernator ial candidates is to cut ahort the period for disgraceful mud sling ing that characterized the last campaign. That could be left out certainly so far as direct results to the State are concerned. " X X X I P. S. Foster had a turkey hen to lay through most of last win ter, and he thinks she may hold the record for the coming winter j as she has already commenced ] laying. A good layer but a poor setter, (or maybe sitter) Mr. Fos ter loaned his gobbler to a near neighbor. The hen didn't like that and went seeking a new mate. She made a visit of nearly two miles to Capt. A. W. Wilson's, and took his gobbler home with her. , tit Miss Eleanor Wilson, graduate of the Gold Sand School, is among the students to enter Campbell College this year. Miss Wilson Is the daughter of Mrs. Bertha Wil #on. ** 'tit" ; Mrs. Vernon Phillips, of Vien na, Md., spent a week recently with her mother, Mrs. C. C. Cat lett, who is still critically ill. in The first frost appeared here Monday. X X X The Present Truth thinks this; is a good way to begin the day: j "A man speaking eVef the ra- j dio told his unseen audience how to begin the day,'. Among other things suggested were certain gymnastic exercises and a drink of pure water. "These things are, without question, very beneficial, but there is, we believe, an even better way. Begin each day definitely com mitted to God. Before you leave your room commit your life to the Lord, and do this in a very defi nite manner. Put your life in His hands for th?Sjday>^and then re member throughout the day that you are in His keeping." t ? t There Is no improvement in the condition of Mrs. C. C. Catlett, | who has been critically ill at her home during a period of several weeks. Relatives and friends, so kind and faithful -in ministering' to her comfort and needs, have abandoned all hope of her recov- i ery. XII I note that Prof. James E. By erly, director of the Acapella Choir of Louisburg College, has announced the members for the coming year. Among the Sopranos are Misses Rose Malone, May Da vis and Katherine Foster, of Louisburg. The latter is a dau ghter of Mr. and Mrs. P. S. Fos ter. t t I While Thomas Dunn regrets the loss of a very valuable milk j cow. Hurley Evans was made sad at the death of bis 36 year old mule. Though worthless from old age, ftr. Evans had cared for the-, faithful animal for some time. ; 1 t 1 ! The Brew ers and North Carolina Beer Dis tributor* Committee will assist county officials in checking their retail beer licenses to make cer tain that all dealers licensed by the state have paid their county fees. State Director, Edgar H. Bain, announced today that each coun ty board of commissioners will be furnished with a list of the nam- 1 es and addresses of "all persons * and firms licensed by the state to sell beer at retail in that particu lar county. ( The committee has secured a j complete list of all state licensed i retail beer dealers from the N. t. t Department of Revenue, Colonel - Bain said. The names will be grouped by counties, and each county will be furnished with its own list. According to Colonel Bain, j these lists will enable the county officials to check the state list against their own lists and find out the names of any local beer outlets which have not paid their local license, fees. "Some North Carolfaa counties ar& not getting all the revenue they should from beer license fees," the state director remlnd ded, "because of the failure of some beer retailers to obtain , county licenses or to renew sucb 1 licenses upon expiration." "We believe that our plan to furnish the county with lists of | persons and firms licensed by the! state will aid them in collecting many additional license fees. We do not want beer sold by outlets that are not complying strictly ' with the law." Wife (of defeated pugilist) ? j Don't count up to ten any more, lunior, it makes your father's lead ache. "The more experience that students of the human body acquire, the greater respect they show for the methods of relief that utilize the natural resources of the body. The experienced students to whom we refer are that group found in every branch of the healing arts, and there are many, who concern themselves more with the conquering of disease than the attempt to justify a professional clique or faction. "The key to the health of every person is not held by any group exclusively." The principle behind the Chiropractic and Drugless Meth ods of treating is that of utilizing the natural resources of the body and the nervous systems (the controlling median* isms of the functions of the organs, etc.). Every person who needs advice or aid in the care of their health should consider the logic and advantage of the drugless healing method. "Good Health through Chiropractic" DR. SADIE C.
