Today's Film Revue A Mad, Mad, Mad World producer-director, Stanley Kramer made this film with the Intention of toping all comedies. A good plot | and almost any one of the many comedy actors In this film could have tufnei out a masterpiece of comedy. But, combining this long list of top comedy stars makes for 3 hours and 12 minutes of side splitting wild confusion. The story, and there seems to be a good one, begins with henpecked, Milton Berle com ing upon a dying motorist who gives him a clue where a horde of monjfy ($350,000) Is hidden. It's sofn revealed that a host of others are on the trail of this loot. In the race to get there first, drivers put their cars through a test of speed, hair pin turns and collisions. It could aptly be called a modern version of the ."Keystone Cop" days. Spencer Tracy, as the sheriff Is cynical about this whole af fair. He watches the display of human greed with a plan all tucked away that reveals bow treacherous his morality Is. It's really a mad, mad ex perience when so many top stars appear in one film. Too many to name, and with some making only aS-second appear ance,' you have to watch close ly or miss some. NEED DRAPERIES? V Doctor Talk By Rembert Benjamin, M. D. Most people do not reallie the many and diverse causes of headaches. For the purpose of this article we will divide headaches into three general classifications. The first are mild and un complicated headaches, sec ond, there are moderately se rious headaches with respect to complications in treatment, and lastly, -there are the se vere headaches--which are the result of serious, underlying causes. In this first category, head aches can usually be relieved by simple anodynes, such as aspirin, and are caused by a I variety of factors, such as poor elimination. Other caus es can be eye strain, due to faulty ac om mod at ion or mus cle imbalance, sinus trouble, allergies, or fatigue. Moderately serious headaches | are caused by such things as the migraine process (which is us ually hereditary, with accom panying symptoms such as vis ual disturbances, and nausea with vomiting). Histamine headaches should be incllned-ln this group. , An extremely common type headache, which falls In the second category, is that, known as the tension headache. This headache is related to tension and spasm of the muscles which overlie the Skull, and also those located in the back of the neck. Worry and nervous strain are the chlefcauses of this malady and usually can be related to Health And Beauty Prevent Telltale Age With Exercise Your neckline can tell your age but If you are willing to do a few simple exercises to stretch the neck muscles, you can have a lovely, youthful look ing neckline for many, many years. There seems to be a very Im portant connection between phy sical health and physical pos tures and emotional and men tal outlook. If life is a bit ragged for you, don't assume a poor posture, duck your chin into your neck and mlssout on what fun may come your way. It would be good for you to stretch your emotional and mental muscles as well as your physical muscles. Exercises for your neck and chin will help you to relax. Try standing or sitting tall, roll your head in a circle, first to the right and then to the left. Make this as complete a roll as possible, reaching in every direction. Another: Stand or sit tall. Lower your head backward to the right. Lift head. Lower head backward to the left. Lift ihead. Continue, alternating.] Most Important ? keep your I head and your approach tall. Try not to allow discourage ments to affect your health and posture. A wonderful exercise for the chlnline is bite down on an imaginary object Just as hard J as you can. Don't close down ] with your teeth because this would do your teeth harm. Stop ; Just short of really chomping j down. Don't waste your money on a lot of Junk that is advertised to make you look younger In Just 60 seconds. Your com mon sense should tell you that this is Just so much exaggerat ed nonsense. There Is no li quid that you can smooth on and have sagging chin lines disappear. It would be won derful If there was such a liquid, but doctors tell us there isn't. The new trend In makeup Is to use as little of It as possible but to use what you do use with skill and care. The day of: the heavy pancake type make up Is definitely over. Today makeup not only looks better; but Is much better for your skin. Most of us need a little foun dation to start with to give us a pink glow and to cover minor defects. Experiment until you find the color and weight that does the most for you. If you have a dry skin, an enriched type base will do wonders for your complexion. If your skin Is oily, never use an oily type base. This will cause you trouble sooner or later. You will want one of the dry cake types. The newer ones are Just as good at hiding blemishes as those with an oil base. Read the directions on the foundation and apply accord ingly. Some bases require the application of rouge before the base is applied and some after. This can be very Important. Your choice of rouge should be determined by several things. If your skin is oily, never use a paste rouge. You will want a cake or liquid type. The color ga^st be one that matches or blends with your lipstick and general coloring. Where you apply your rouge can detract or add to t*he shape of your face. Usually, a person looks better If the rouge Is || applied to the upper and outer . j>ortlon of the cheek bone. Keep the rouge high for a more youth ful look. Apply with a light touch?for too much will make even the most ladylike seem cheap. Eye makeup Is a must but should never be used obviously. You can get by with more at night but, even then, use It to enhance what nature has giv en you, not to create some thing new. Powder Is a very personal thing. It may take some time to discover Just what you need. Most cosmetic houses give small free samples to their distributors to pass on to the customers .to help them decide on a flattering color of powder. Ask for some samples next time you must purchase a box of face powder. Plenty Time ?? Do you think our daughter will ever get married, "John?" I wouldn't worry about It for at least twenty years, darling. I never heard of a girl sixteen months being an old maid/' The Truth Little Mary was on a visit to her grandparents, and the old fashioned clock on the wall was a source of wonderment to her. While she was standing before it her grandmother said to her from the next room, "Is the clock running, dear?" "No, ma'am," promptly re plied Mary. "It's Just stand ing still and waggint its tall." emotional disturbances. A common example of the ten sion headache is the type seen in individuals who are suddenly relieved of stressful situations or consistent pressures. This can be illustrated by the busi ness man's headache, encount ered after sleeping late on his day off, or the student's head ache on the day following a se ries of final examinations. |n this final category of se vere headaches, the possibility of certain serious pathological disorders Is present. Brain 1 ucouni, jauu tumors or some other damaging process to the brain tissue very commonly cause an extremely painful and continual discom fort over most of the skull area. Other causes of severe head aches generally Involve the vas cular system in the brain and serious changes associated with high blood pressure, such us spasm in the arteries. Rup ture of small arteties may cause excruciating headaches. A general increase in the pres sure of the fluid systems of the brain, associated with hyper tension, commonly gives rise to this type of headache also. ?
