Local OES Have Supper
A bounteous covered dish sup
per was enjoyed by members of
William B. Barrow Chapter No.
39, OES, prior to their Tegular
meeting on Tuesday night.
The supper was served In the
basement of the Masonic Tem
ple, and Included a large va
riety of meats, casseroles,
vegetables, pickles and des
serts.
At the close of the meal, Mrs.
George West, Associate Ma
tron, assisted by other Eastern
Stars, presented a program In
tribute to Mrs. James Johnson,
Worthy Matron, and James
Johnson, Worthy Patron, whose
year In office will end with the
next meeting. A lovely Eastern
Star plate Inscribed with the
Insignia and names of all eight
een officers who served this
year was given to them by the
Chapter, along with an origi
nal "Memory Book" covering
their year.

Mrs. Lelta Ellis May, 90, of
Route 1, Loulsburg, died late
Tuesday night. Funeral ser
vices will be held Thursday
afternoon at 3 p.m. from the
Hill-King Methodist Church
conducted by the Pastor the
Rev. Harold Hicks and the Rev.
Jobe Overton. Burial will follow
In the Church cemetery.
Surviving are five daughters:

MISS BETTY MAE BUCHANAN is the
daughter of Mr. andMrs. Ollie Thedric Bu
chanan of Henderson, Route 2, who announce
her engagement to Gene Cordell Ayscue, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Linwood Allen Ayscue of
Route 2, Norllna. The bride-elect is also
the granddaughter of Mrs. Annie Duke
Champion of Manson, N. C. and the late
John T. Champion. A June 14 wedding is
planned.

about Fes Cannady from Frank
linton being In the Air Force
stationed In Denver, Colorado.
I have received word that he
thinks he will be home very
near April 8. He said to tell
ieveryone "hi" and that he
hopes to see all his friends
when he comes home. We are
looking forward to seeing you,
Fes, and hope you can stay
a long time before going back.

Since the movie "Cleopatra"
has begun to show In Raleigh,
many of the local teens have
been going to see It. Sunday

Spring Dance Date Set
Members of the Loulsburg
Junior Woman's Club are busily
engaged In preparations for
their annual spring Dance,
which will be held this year
on Saturday, March 15, at the
Loulsburg Armory.
Particularly busy at this time
are members of the decorations
committee, with Mrs. Jimmy
Cottrell as chairman. Their
plans call for carrying out an
Easter theme in decorations,
and much thought and planning
has gone Into their work, in
order that those attending may
have an enjoyable evening of
dancing In the atmosphere of
Easter and springtime.
Danny's Combo, a dance band
from Durham, has been engaged
to play for the dance between
the hours of 8 and 1?. This
group has played for the dances
sponsored by the Junior
Woman's Club on three other
occasions, and there have been
numerous requests that they
return.
These club-sponsored dances
are the only fund raising pro
jects carried out by the club,
and the money goes mostly to
support the local projects.
Mrs. Wilson Clay, general
chairman, today urged all adults
In the area who enjoy dancing
to make their plans to attend
the dance. All club members
have tickets, and will be glad
to make table reservations.
