THE PRIZE
This is a fictictious take-off
on the prestige of the Nobel
prize awards. Much liberty is
taken and the characters select
ed to receive this award, in the
various arts, are a group un
likely to receive any kind of
honorable or coveted award.
Selections for the awards are
?Edward G. Robinson, a be
whiskered German-American
physicist; Gerard Oury, a
French biochemist and Miche
line Presle, his wife. There
are several doctors and sur
geons nominated for awards
and Paul Newman, a drunken
American novelist, completes
the main list.
Several incidents arise that
make this a fast moving film.
Communist agents kidnap Rob
inson and plant an Impostor in
his place (Robinson plays the
dual role).
And who do you think solves
the kidnapping mystery? None
other than Newman, the drunk
en American playwright.
Screenplay writer, Ernest
Lehman, provides light, amuse
ing dialogue. And, Mr. New
man, in his less sober mom
ents handles the dialogue quite
well.
