Brandywine Singers To Appear The Brandywine Singers, Ave ' young graduates of the Univer sity of New Hampshire, will appear here In concert Tuesday, April 14, at 8:00 p. m. In the College Auditorium. Currently on a. southern tour, these talented young folkslngers have recently appeared at Dart mouth, Boston, Tufts, Smith, Harvard, Yale, Amherst, Rad cllffe, and most all the major colleges and universities along the eastern United States. They have performed at man/ music festivals, music theaters, and toured four weeks with the Johnny Mathls Show. Their TV debut has been with the ABC net work. Their origin as a professional group began on the UNH campus where twin brothers, Ron and Rlc Shaw, joined voices and guitars with fellow students ? Dave Craig, Fred Corbett, and Hal Brown. They have consistently ex hibited a rare understanding of the material they present. Their method of presentation is different, as well; thelr's Is a wave of sound In which It Is almost Impossible to dis tinguish the separate voices. But this blend did not happen by accident, and their patient efforts at Improving It, in fluenced their winning first honors at the Inter-Collegiate Musical Festival at Williams port, Pennsylvania last year. Last week Louisburg High School played South Granville at Louisburg College and won with a score of 15 to 6. They play Bunn at Bunn Tuesday and Frankllnton at Frankllnton Fri day. There were many happenings around the state this past week end. One of these was the State F. B. L. A. Convention held in Winston Salem. Those from j Louisburg High School who went were Donna Crowder, Sheila Latta, Becky Perdue, Ford Perry, Frankie Redmond, Buddy O'Neal, and Mrs. Arnold, the sponsor. Donna Crowder entered the contest for Miss F. B. L. A. and won third prize from a group of about thirty five contestants. What are you going to do with the prize money, Donna? Heard a certain three tried to get it from you Sunday night. Someone wants to know how Becky P. liked the pickle. How about it, Becky? Ford P., what was taken from you Friday night? Another event this weekend was the State F. H. A. Conven tion which was held In Raleigh Saturday at the Memorial Au ditorium. A play on family living was pre sented In the afternoon. The Azalea Festival was ano ther attraction for the weekend. Others than the members of the Loulsburg Band, Darrell P., Tommy E., Emma Ruth B., Jo Ann H., Guy T., Faye R., George G., and Bettle and William R. were seen. Every one seemed to have a very good time. The band members said they are still hoarse from sing ing all the way home on the bus. Another attraction was the Southern Quarter Drag Strip in Clarkton. Those who went were Charles Lyle, Jack and Nell Strickland, Lewis and Barbara Moore, Gal Jenkins, Eugene Shearln, and Buddy Beatty. Jack won F/S with his '60 Chevro let with a speed of 101/92 miles per hour and an E.1 T. of 14.02. He also won B/G with hls'55 Chevy with a speed of 111/62 miles per hour and an E.
