Upon comple tion of OTS, he will be commissioned a Second Lieutenant and will be trained as an Avionics-Munitions Officer. Mr. Strother graduated from the University of North Carolina this past spring. Mrs. Cecil Sykes, chairman, pre sided and the meeting was open ed with special prayer by Mrs. Aubrey Tomllnson. Minutes were read for approval and a short business session was held with the members at the Ben jamin Franklin Boarding Home was discussed. At this time Mrs. Grady Harris spoke to the gqgup on the approaching Lottie Moon Christmas offering and a goal was set for the circle. The program for the afternoon was given by Mrs. Grady Har ris entitled "Intercessory Prayer." Mrs. Hazel Timber lake read several selections of scripture relative to prayer. Mrs. Lee Bell read very im pressively, one verse from the hymn "Others." The meeting was closed with prayer by Mrs. R. L. Eagles. Mrs. W. G. Lancaster was hostess to the Mary Hester Powell Circle at 1:30 p.m. at her home on North Main St. Miss Bessie Shadrach, chair man, presided. Mrs. W. (1 cup) 1 cup firmly-packed brown Flako Pie Crust Mix sugar \ 2 tablespoons cold water 1-1/2 teaspoons pumpkin pie For crust, follow package directions for making a sing e crus 9-lnch pie. Bake In preheated hot oven (425 degrees F.) o minutes. Cool. , . For filling, soften gelatine In milk In saucepan. Stir In 3/4 cup of the sugar, pumpkin pie spice and pumpkin. Cook over medlu? heat until mixture bolls, about 5 minutes. Add small amount of hot mixture to slightly beaten egg yolks; add to pumpkin. Cook an additional 3 minutes, sttrrli* frequently. Cool. Beat egg whites and salt together until foamy. Add remaining 1/4 c ip brown sugar, a tablespoon at a time, beating until meringue stiff and glossy. Fold pumpkin mixture Into meringue.
