In the first place, running a
home Is not complete satis
faction to most of us, but there
are times when we think we

outside Interests This Is

whether the person concerned
realizes It or not, for house
keeping boredom.
If it Is not possible tor you
to be away from home for an '
hour or so each day, don't be
come discouraged. You can
do any number of Interesting
things rlgtit In the home that
will help you to express your
self and do away with boredom.
If necessary, rearrange the
house for greater working ease.
Uncluttered organization and
convenient arrangement make
keeping house much easier and
more pleasant.. Plan meals that
do away with time-consuming
dishes. Use more quick dishes
made with prepared mixes
canned or (roten foods.
Why not chart the following
day's activities the night be
fore? Plan the meals, the
housework and family activi
ties. Encourage the children
and hubby to lay out their
clothes for the next day In
order to cut down on the morn
ing scramble.
Use plastic tablecloths and
place .mats and paper napkins
except for special company.

During the holiday season,
many parents will hire babj
sitters while they attend social
functions. Sometime ago the
Accident Prevention Committee
of the American Academy of
Pediatrics issued this advice
to parents.
Instructions for the Parents
1. Tell the baby sitter where
you will be and leave the phone
number where you can be
reached.
2. Leave the baby sitter the
phone number of the local
police department and the
children's doctor.
3. Leave exact Instructions as
to the care of the children,
what they are to eat, when they
are to go to bed, etc.
4. Review with the baby sitter
various escape routes in case
of fire.

Instructions for Baby Sitter
1. General Instructions.
A. Remember that these
parents have entrusted you with
their most valuable and prec
ious possession. Be sure that
yqur actions Justify this faith
In you.
B. If the children awaken
cryiug and do not feel feverish, ,
tender motherly, loving care ]
will usuafty.be successful. i
If an infant, burping, chang- [
ing, or feeding Nqiay also be i
needed. If nothingxelse suf- |
flees call the parents.
2. Specific Instructions.
A. In case of illness or ac
cident contact the parents Im
mediately and If they are not
available, call their doctor. If
their doctor is not available,
call your own doctor.
B. In case of smoke or fire,
get the children out of the |
house Immediately. DON'T stop <
to dress the children or make a
phone call. Take the children
to the nearest neighbor and
then, and only then, call the
Fire Department first, then call
the parents.
C. In case you hear a
strange noise or sound, re
member that usually such nois- i
es or sounds may come from j
the pipes when the heat comes 1
on or from a banging shutter.
If you cannot Identify a sound,
call the police, then call the
parents.
