ates In a flight of 122 airmen.
Airman Leonard was gradu
ated from Gold Sand High
School in 1964 and received
his bachelor of applied sci
ence in drafting at Wilson
Technical Institute.

N. C., are currently patrolling
the Western Pacific with the
United States' Seventh Fleet,
aboard the attack aircraft car
rier USS Kitty Hawk, home
ported in San Diego.
The 80,000-ton carrier left
home In early November for
"WestPac", Just four and a
half months following her June
return from eight months off
the coast of Vietnam.
When she returned in June,
the Kitty Hawk and her 5,000
men brought with them the Navy
Unit Commendation Medal She
won the award when her pilots
and planes flew approximately
10,000 sorties, dropping nearly
II tons of ordnance on enemy
targets.

on their arrival, they learned

the two men. A trip to the
Queen City and Identification
of the two as participants In
Frankllnton crime, brought a
solution, In part, to the mys
tery which Edwards and his
department had been working
on since mid November. '
Complete details of how the
two were tied In to the Frank
llnton robbery other than their
mode of operation, were not
given. Also still missing is the
1867 new Dodge pickup taken In
the robbery and, of course, the
third man.
Chief Edwards said his de
partment Is still working on
the missing truck and expects
a break In this portion of the
he-was aided In his investiga
tion by SBI Agent Billy Crock -
er, for whom he had high
praise. No money was report
ed found on the two suspects.
