Board Meets
Youngsville - The Youngsville Town
Board of Commissioners met at the
Town Hall Monday night, January
sixth, with Mayor W. M. Roberts
presiding at the regular monthly meet
ing.
Approval of building plans was
given by commissioners to the Kaiser
Agricultural Chemicals Corporation
for the erection of a storage building
and office which the company pro-,
poses to put on the former John
Mitchell property on West Main Street.
Explanations of proposed building
were made by Commissioners D. H.
Cyrus, Sr., with discussions led by
Commissioners M. D. Hoyle and W. T.
Moss. Plans call tor the John Mitchell
store building, which has not been
occupied in recent years, to be taken
own to make way for the new build
ings.
Mr. J. A. Green was re-appointed to
serve as Town Tax Collector for the
coming year.
Report was made on the annual
audit of Town Boqks as recently com
pleted by Mr. Lonnie R. Shuping,
CPA, of Loulaburg. Copies of the
written report of audit were submitted
to the Governing Body.
Discussion was held in regard to
necessary work done recently on one
of the town pumps.
Louisburg Loses Two To Wakelon
The Wakelon Bulldogs
downed the Louisburg Bull
dogs. 62-48 in a game played
here Tuesday night and the
visiting girls hit the Louisburg
lassies for a 43-30 win.
Thomas Finch and Robbie
McDonald led the locals with
14 points each and Jamie
Pearce was tops for Wakelon
with 19. Linda Brown paced
the Wakelo^ girls with 14
points and Cade Beasley was
high scorer for Louisburg
with 12.

East Carolina Freshmen
handed Louisburg its second
loss of the season last night in
a game in Minges Coluseum
on the' Greenville campus.
The score was 84-71 in a
game that was close most of
the way.
The 'Canes were down
two. 32-34, at halftime. East
Carolina scored the first six
points of the second half to
lead 40-32. The lead mounted
to IX, 39-50, with 15:00
minutes remaining, but the
'Canes cut it to 5 on three
straight baskets; 2 by Dick
Driver and one by Terry
Davis. The scoie stood at
45-50 with 13:00 showing on
the clock. With 9:35 remain
ing the score was 53-59 when
the Baby Bucs scored five
straight points to move out
front by 53-64 and the 'Canes
could go no closer than 10
the rest of the way.
The Baby Bucs controlled
the boards in the second half
and their second shot vat
tempts that dropped proved
the undoing of the Hurri
canes. Rebounding for the
game was 48-61 in favor of
the Bucs but in the second

The Louiiburf College Hurricane* next home gun* will be
Monday night at Holton Gym againat the formidable N.C.
State Freshmen. The frosh defeated the Cane* at Raleigh for
their only defeat of the season so far. State has the biggest
team they have had in several yean. They are led by 6'9"
Center Paul Coder and 6'5" Guard Ed Leftwich, averaging 24
and 16 points respectively. Two other outstanding boys are
6'7" forward Gary Davenport and 6'8" forward Renoldo
Lovlaa. The State coaches expect more help from this group
than any they have had in recent years.
